**Position Overview:**
The RF Accelerator Research Division (RFAR) of the Technology Innovation Directorate at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) is the premier Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratory division for high power RF and particle source design, fabrication, and testing. Engineering and scientific staff are involved both with the operation of world-class particle accelerators as well the conception, design, and prototyping of next-generation devices.
We are seeking a scientist or engineer with technical and project management qualifications to serve as project engineer on research projects. These projects can include both internal and external customers.
The project engineer will support groups of engineers, designers, and technical experts in a wide variety of programs ranging from early-stage R&D up to deliverable systems. They will have responsibility for tracking the cost, schedule and technical performance goals of the projects. Typically, a project engineer is paired up with a Science Lead and Lead Engineer to form the full project management team.
**Given the nature of this position, SLAC will require onsite work.**
**Specific responsibilities include (but not limited to):**
+ Assist in developing detailed project plans including tasks and time estimates for accomplishing the project¿s goals.
+ Responsible for ensuring technical specifications and quality standards are met of work performed at SLAC and by contractors, vendors, and partner labs.
+ Perform assessment of the cost and schedule activities against the plan for work performed at SLAC, partners, and contractors, ensuring that progress relative to budget and schedule is understood and correctly reported. Make corrections to the plan as necessary to optimize performance.
+ Develop periodic reports to management for tracking project progress.
+ Support diverse teams of engineers, scientists, technicians, and students to perform for a project.
+ Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
**To be successful in this position you will bring:**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related technical discipline.
+ Demonstrated technical ability in developing, producing, validating, and delivering R&D systems and components.
+ Knowledge of project management techniques and methods. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and execute work.
+ Strong analytical and computational skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

_The expected pay range for this position is $102,000 to $144,000 per annum. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs._
