Minimum requirements for the role:
A degree in microbiology (third year), or biotechnology qualification if they have worked in a micro laboratory is required for this role. Previous experience minimum 1 years’ experience having worked in a microbiology laboratory within any industry is preferred for this role. The successful candidate must know how to do serial dilutions and be able to operate a microscope. Strong analytical ability and ability to interpret results. The person must be organised and results driven. The person must have good communication and be able to work in a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Handling all microbiological functions on new and existing applications for the local and international market. Conducting quality control of incoming and on-site produced products according to approved procedures per product specification. Performing product efficacy testing. Maintaining GLP, GMP, and GDP in the microbiology laboratory. Reporting results to generate accurate, analytical, and microbiological reports according to specified methods and procedures. Assisting with the execution of routine activities within the microbiology laboratory. Testing compatibility of produced Trichoderma, bacillus, and rhizobium products with other agricultural products. Performing continuous shelf-life studies with rhizobium products to ensure that there is no rapid decline in viable cells over a period of time. Performing basic seed analysis (including germination %, and possible fungal pathogen presence) on all seed batches received from farmers/ agents or to be used in growing chamber trials. Handling nodulation efficacy trial setup with seeds and inoculants, and on-seed viabilities thereof. Cleaning and maintaining the growing chamber. Researching and developing an azospirillum liquid biofertilizer. Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
