Job Title

R&D Engineer III - Ceramic

Provides engineering support and technical guidance to material, product, and process development programs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Conduct engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes and/or procedures.Take a major role in projects to optimize and improve existing materials, products, processes and/or procedures.Lead individual project plan development, execution and reporting activities to support CoorsTek project management activities.Devise advanced research methods and documents results and procedures.Exercise responsibility for multiple pieces of processing and/or analytical equipment.Recommend new or upgrades to existing process and test equipment.Work collaboratively with the Operations and Commercial sectors of the company, providing guidance in his or her areas of expertise.Promote the company’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.Direct the activities of technicians.Coordinates pilot-plant or initial production runs on new products or processes.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, and at least five years relevant experience.Or: Master’s degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, and at least three years relevant experience. Degree in materials science with focus in ceramics highly desired.  Or: PhD degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering. Degree in materials science with focus in ceramics highly desired.Also acceptable general materials science, mechanical engineering, physics.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Hands-on experience in ceramics processing along with data collection, data structuring and analysis strongly desired.Hands-on experience in materials processing desired.Advanced knowledge of ceramic materials and processing.Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Organized, detail-oriented person necessary.Team player with ability to work autonomously and independently manage projects.Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Position Specific Physical Requirements:

Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 100,020.00 - USD 132,026.00
