The Therapy Systems and Preclinical Team is growing and has an exciting opportunity for an R&D Engineer II supporting Electrophysiology preclinical work within the Cardiology division. Electrophysiology is an exciting growth driver for BSC. With the acquisition of FARAPULSE Inc., Boston Scientific will strengthen its leadership in Personalized EP Solutions, with a strong focus in Atrial Fibrillation.

 

This role supports key new product development product lines with high visibility which will provide the right candidate with excellent growth potential. The R&D role will be a key team member in the development and integration of new catheter-based technologies for improving the safety, effectiveness, and usability of ablation devices in the field of cardiac arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Create a strong team culture around high expectations & high performance 

Facilitate crisp decision making around key technical issues 

Provide clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates 

Leverage internal/external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives 

Lead the design & execution of preclinical protocols and studies to drive data-based decisions 

Develop novel improvements to products or processes resulting in expansion of BSC’s Intellectual Property portfolio in key strategic areas. 

Successfully completes work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, bench & preclinical studies. 

Understand ablation output and therapeutic performance to guide product development and scientific knowledge surrounding products 

May interface with Physicians to obtain feedback on concepts and performance of new devices 

Works cooperatively with quality, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success. 

Required Qualifications:  

3-5 Years of experience within the Medical Device industry/ preclinical research facility with BS degree, 0-3 Years with MS or PhD 

Strong experimental design & preclinical research skills 

Expertise in experimental design & execution to mimic physiological conditions  

Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.  

Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

Strong leadership skills 

Success working on a team and developing practical solutions to complex and difficult problems. 

Solid statistical analysis and signal processing knowledge 

Hands-on approach to problem solving 

Proven self-starter who runs towards critical issues, ambiguous requirements, or loosely defined challenges with a demonstrated ability to rally teams to achieve business results. 

Ability to research literature and develop clinical understanding with technical credibility to develop a strategy for regulatory submission
