Quantum Hardware Intern (f/m/x) - Design and develop a visualization tool for wiring connections
IBM
**Introduction**
Quantum computing is a rapidly growing field and recent breakthroughs include first utility-scale experiments. Correct wiring in quantum systems is essential to ensure precise qubit control, signal integrity, minimizing noise and optimizing overall system efficiency. As quantum computers scale, managing the complexity of wiring and connection layouts become crucial for reducing errors as well as enhancing efficiency during system deployments.
**Your role and responsibilities**
The goal of this internship is to develop tools to help visualize these connections on a dashboard which helps engineers and researchers to facilitate system connection/wiring work, not only during the deployment phase but also in the subsequent bring-up and debug phase.
- Identify and sort patterns in complex electrical connections and layouts.
- Develop a program and/or dashboard for the visualization of system connections based on user input.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to improve visualization accuracy.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or a related field
Basic understanding and interest in quantum computing principles (superposition, entanglement, qubit connectivity, etc)
Experience with Python and data visualization libraries
Fluent in English (B2 level)
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
This internship is best suited for students of quantum computing and software-oriented computer science. Students of other technical/scientific fields like physics or mathematics with the aforementioned experiences are highly welcome as well
Development on Linux systems
Familiarity with dashboard development in Grafana
German (B1 level)
