A multi-disciplinary infrastructure consulting company in Cape Town is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team! To fulfil the role of Professional Quantity Surveyor, the candidate must manage project activities to deliver specified scope within a fee budget, to an acceptable quality and on time.

Requirements: 

BSc Quantity Surveying/BSc Quantity Surveying (Honours) Professionally Registered with the SACQSP Knowledge of construction contracts (JBCC, FIDIC, NEC, GCC) WinQS proficient DimensionX proficient MS Office literacy

Responsibilities:

Managing costs on a wide variety of new and existing building projects and structures, such as residential developments, sports stadiums, roads and bridges, schools, hospitals, offices, factories and commercial properties. Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work. Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use. Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations. Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies. Performing risk and value management, cost control and value engineering. Advising on procurement strategy, contract documentation and financial control. Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, returnable schedules and Preliminaries & General. Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks. Preparing and analysing costing for tenders, tender evaluation, tender adjudication and appointment of contractors and/or sub-contractors. Allocating work to subcontractors. Providing advice on contractual claims, variation orders, site instructions, escalation and final accounts. Analysing outcomes and writing detailed inception-,progress-, preliminary design-, final design reports. •Valuing completed work and arranging payments. Assisting the Bids Department with write-ups to be used for tender purposes for future QS work. Calculation of escalation, penalties, monthly payment certificates and the reconciliation of the final account and close-out report. Preparation of monthly cost reports / financial reports on projects. Measurement of rentable areas. Cash-flows. Targeted procurement including training and monitoring.
