Quality Technician
If you like an attention to detail with a high standard of quality, this position may be right for you. We are seeking a Quality Technician for our Accessories plant in Greenfield, IN.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. The following duties and responsibilities are to be performed accurately, efficiently, within company safety and quality standards, and within specified time frames and as needed.
Perform receiving, first article, and PPAP inspections via sampling plan as assigned by system work order generation or supervisor.Interpret part drawings per ASME Y14.5 – Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standard and convert design specifications into inspection and test records.Perform product and system audits in all areas as required by internal and industry (ISO:9001) standards.Create and control quality documents (Work Instructions, Quality Alerts, etc.)Perform non-conforming material reviews and dispositions.Accurately record, investigate, interpret, and effectively communicate inspection, test, and quality data.Perform periodic gage R&R and capability studies and present the findings to internal and external stakeholders.Assist and/or lead internal and supplier PPAP workbook completions, in part or in full.Perform task completions and records maintenance via enterprise software application.Apply problem-solving skills (9-Step, DMAIC, 8D, Pareto, 5Why, etc.) to support improvements in internal metrics.Identify, contain, and disposition nonconforming parts with communication to effected areas as needed.Determine work priorities and effectively manage workload to meet deadlines.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Familiarity with industry best practices outlined in MIL-STD-120 and AIAG MSA, preferred. Demonstrated application of Statistical Process Control methodology (SPC), or process capability, yield, productivity (lean) measurement tools.
EQUIPMENT SKILLS: Preference given to candidates with ability to program Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM); or experienced in the use of optical comparator, hardness gage, height gages, micrometers, sine bars, thread gages, advanced optical, visual, or laser-based measurement systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and/or the public. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and peers.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Prefer ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, visually evaluate, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must frequently use hands to handle and feel. The employee must occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is expected to follow all safety guidelines and wear proper PPE where indicated.
