Quality Technician
RBC Bearings
Work with Engineering on the development of new/reactivated products, focusing on the development of inspection & processing methods in accordance with external and internal requirements
Disposition product non-conformances with input from RBC API engineering and manufacturing
Perform contract review of customer purchase orders to ensure that customer requirements are flowed down to engineering, manufacturing, and the plant as a whole
Obtain and maintain DQR, DMIR, and other customer / industry certifications as required
Implement, maintain, and revise inspection method sheets for all aspects of inspection, manufacturing, and assembly to ensure product received from outside vendors, manufactured in-house, and assembled and shipped from RBC API meets the quality standards specified by RBC API and our customers
Monitor quality systems and processes, manufacturing processes, outside vendor performance, rejections/returns, etc., using various quality tools (audits, paretos, trend analysis, capability studies, PPAPs, FMEAs, supplier scorecards, etc.) to identify potential areas for continuous improvement efforts
Initiate and/or revise QMS and inspection procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with latest customer requirements, revised industry standards (ISO9001/AS9100), regulatory compliance (14 CFR Part 21), and other standards as directed by management (e.g. IATF-16949 automotive standard, Cummins)
Respond to Customer inquiries for Quality Systems Info, REACH and Conflict Materials certifications
Perform root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.) and corrective/preventative action projects in response to internally and externally identified non-conformances
Lead and/or support onsite customer and regulatory product/process audits
Perform internal audits of API QMS processes
Perform process, product, and/or quality system audits of API suppliers
Streamline & improve FAI process including characteristic identification, AS9102 form completion, inspection sequencing and data collection points, and record retention processes
Train, Mentor, & Coach Inspectors on quality systems, documentation, gaging, tools, etc.
Provide Technical assistance to inspectors, manufacturing personnel, Mfg. Floor Supervision.
Troubleshoot Quality & Manufacturing problems.
Assist with production needs throughout inspection during times of high volume
Maintain good housekeeping in assigned work area.
High school graduate, preferably technical school and over 5 years of progressive experience in a quality department in an aerospace manufacturer. Familiarity with Quality Systems (ISO 9001, AS 9100, etc.) Analytical Thinking, Problem Solving Proactive, Take Initiative Multi-Tasking Attention to Detail Good Communication Skills (written, verbal) Read and Write English Computer Skills Proficient in MS Office Suite
