Summary of the Position: The Quality Supervisor is responsible for assisting management with the execution of quality control programs and systems at the JBSS plant. The person in this position manages all aspects of the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP). They coordinate First Production Runs (FPR), outbound COA shipments, and sensory activities. Supporting the Quality Systems Manager, the Quality Supervisor will provide leadership to assure continuity of quality and food safety programs.   Functions of the Position:

Manages plant EMP activities including scheduling weekly swabbing, shipping swabs to 3rd party lab, maintaining database of results, coordinating plant response to findings, closing out investigations, and communicating with cross-functional team.

Leads quality-relevant actions during FPR. These actions include reviewing finished and WIP product, communicating product information associated with FPRs, and shipping product to the customers. Supports new product launches, ensuring appropriate quality specifications are identified and validated. Performs product cuttings of competitive NBE as needed.

Develops and maintains database and programs to track COAs, product testing, and customer specifications. Ensures testing requirements and shipment of samples, monitoring of results, and release of COA orders for all facilities are completed in a timely manner.

Responsible for training, scheduling, and development of quality techs and leads.

Trains relevant employees in proper sensory techniques.

Assists in the implementation of quality & food safety related training. Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of production-related quality policies, procedures, programs, and systems.

Completes other assigned department tasks as required.

Participates in regulatory inspections, monthly plant GMP audits, and GFSI or customer audits such as SQF and AIB.

Makes proactive recommendations and offers solutions to the Quality Systems Manager to improve quality and efficiencies.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience and Knowledge: 

Bachelor’s in chemistry, biology or related field preferred.Five plus years’ experience supervising quality personnel in a food manufacturing or GMP regulated environment.Basic understanding of microbiology.Familiar with food safety related programs. Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:  PCQI – Preventive Controls Qualified Individual for food safety planCertified SQF Practitioner

 

Skills and Competencies:

Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred.Ability to lead, motivate and train others.Ability to follow verbal or written instructions.Interpersonal skills.Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, flow charts and data-based programs such as infinity.
