Applications are invited for the position within the Quality Department, based at our Springs facility in Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will report directly to the  Quality Assurance Manager.

 

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Results:

Ensure that at plant level, in liaison with the QA Manager, that the company’s quality management strategic results are met. Consistently meet budgeted cost targets. Drive improvement initiatives and process improvement projects. Effective management of fixed capital resources. Lead the Intrinsic/Central Laboratory- and Extrinsic Packaging Material Laboratory, and Bottling Process Control teams. Ensure adherence to Distell Quality Policy to ensure the consistent production of products that meet and exceed customer and consumer expectations. Facilitate problem solving in Quality, Cellar and Packaging environments. Drive and assist with continuous improvement in Quality, Cellar and Packaging environments. Manage suppliers according to the company’s supplier development strategy. Ensure Quality Management systems compliance. Ensure human capital is utilised effectively and productively Drive manufacturing plant efficiency. Improve the risk profile of the site. Consistently ensure SHEQ (Safety, health, Environmental and Quality) management practices are applied and the department conforms to regulatory and QMS (Quality management systems) requirements.

Customer & Relationship Results:

Meet service level agreements for packaging, cellars, Centre of Excellence, Wine-buying and NPD departments. Build effective and trusting relationships with customers/suppliers to deliver on service level agreements. Build effective and trusting relationships. Innovation and Improvement Results (Drive continuous improvement in area of responsibility) Implement new ideas and improve methods, systems and work processes that will lead to higher quality or reduced cost. Develop plans and review performance against targets regularly to ensure continuous improvement. Create an environment for challenging status quo, risk rating improvement and sharing of knowledge Quality Leadership team

Leadership Results:

Responsible for own development and contribute to the team effectiveness. Demonstrate the company values. Create a sense of common purpose across the quality team by providing targeted and regular feedback about company performance in line with organisational objectives. Ensuring team members have clear, current and measurable goals. Implement talent management and ensure that succession plans and development actions are in place. Manage change effectively and achieve transformation targets. Involvement in setting the overall standards for manufacturing and anticipating future requirements e.g. developing policy standards, protocols and/or procedures. Train, mentor, coach team on specific tasks or activities Clear pattern of self-development and learning. Ensure plans are in place and reviewed regularly to ensure a competent and motivated team.

 

The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

Tertiary qualification (diploma or degree) in one of the following fields: Natural Science, Food Science, Analytical Chemistry and/or relevant Engineering background. Relevant experience in leading teams at a managerial level preferably within an FMCG environment. At least 3 years’ experience within a Quality Management (Intrinsic & Extrinsic) environment. Sound knowledge of Quality Management System requirements, e.g., ISO 9001: 2015, ISO17025 and FSSC 22000(food safety system). Computer literate in MS Office suite. Statistical Competency Project management and problem-solving experience. Advanced analytical and evaluative skills. Sound interpersonal and communication skills. Articulate with good presentation skills. Well-developed strategic and conceptual skills. Excellent leadership ability. Team player with strong relationship building ability. Action orientation. High levels of emotional intelligence. Commercial and Financial Acumen. Ability to multitask.
