Quality Manager
**Job Description:** As a Quality Manager, you will manage and lead product quality and test programs, policies, and initiatives. Responsibilities include identifying, analyzing and developing improvements in productivity, quality, warranty, client relationships, and customer service. This also includes continuous improvement of hardware and software testing and validation programs. A successful candidate that has demonstrated problem solving ability, enjoys all aspects of quality from planning to validation and lifecycle improvement, and who can translate analytics to actionable improvements will thrive in this role. This role reports directly to the Global R&D Director. This position will work with all facets of the organization to understand business requirements, identify opportunities, and implement initiatives which help deliver products and solutions throughout the organization which reduce costs, improve effectiveness, and address the business’ short and long-term needs. **What You Will Do** + Establishment and verification of product specifications and quality attributes including operational and performance metrics. + Analysis and implementation of action plans, test procedures, production changes, quality improvements, and service procedures. + Establish a relationship with key personnel and lead cross functional interaction with customers and other businesses units towards quality assurance and continuous improvement. + Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, process, and compliance audits as well as management of customer lab testing, field testing, and pilot builds. + Investigation of customer complaints, warranty classification, and warranty tracking and collaboration with engineering for design and process improvement. + Statistical and method analysis of product testing, life testing, failure modes, and warranty for both control and improvement of manufacturing and engineering processes. + Reporting and management of change processes around product improvement resulting from warranty analysis, serviceability issues, sales and marketing feedback, and customer feedback. + Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods such as 8D or 5-why analysis to business problems and issues to ensure corrective actions are robust. + Ownership of quality documentation and reporting of status and failures of process, testing, installation, audits, and corrective actions. + Ownership of software and firmware test methods, life testing, and validation including leadership of test driven development initiatives. + Assist in the research, evaluation and development of alternate and consolidated sources of material. + Assist in the investigation of new designs and materials to decrease cost and improve manufacturability, servicing, quality and efficiency. + Ownership and administration of agency approval processes, conformance, and audits and collaboration with cross functional engineering teams regarding requisite data collection and verification. + Leadership, mentorship, and management of a team of quality and test engineers and technicians. + Support, test, and quality of multiple products through the entire life cycle including inception, design, release, and obsolescence. + Assist in design for manufacturability and testability of new products. + Follow the ITW core values of Integrity, Simplicity, Trust, Respect, and Shared Risk. + Travel to manufacturing plants, customers, and Global Weigh & Wrap locations (Hillsboro, Ohio, USA and Birmingham, United Kingdom) as required. Up to 25% travel required. **What We Are Looking For** + Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality related field from an accredited college. + 3-5 years of experience in quality management. + Strong communication, leadership and team building skills. + Quality assurance and/or quality auditor certification preferred. + Training on problem solving, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and/or six sigma certification. + Project management of internal and external teams, resource allocation, and organizational skills. + Knowledgeable in ISO 9001 standards including internal auditor experience + Results oriented mindset with an expectation of continuous improvement of team members and self. + Strong understanding of manufacturing and quality processes within manufacturing environments. + Proven track record of translating KPIs into improvement actions. + Background in statistical process or quality control methodologies. + Understanding of software testing methodologies including automation of test and validation. + Expertise in modern approaches, tools, and methodologies for measurement and analysis of data strongly preferred. + Awareness of latest industry standards and trends and ability to integrate applicable improvements into current processes. + Experience with agency certification processes such as UL, NTEP, FCC, and NSF preferred. **Additional Information** + Office, Lab, and Manufacturing environments. + PPE required: Steel toe shoes and eye protection are required in manufacturing and lab areas. + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, or stoop and use hands, arms and walk frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
