General Description: The Quality Manager will oversee the Quality Control and Quality Assurance functions at Mycorrhizal Applications LLC (MA). This role has the final decision for product release for all Mycorrhizal Applications products produced, packaged, and stored at MA’s facilities and with contract manufacturing partners. The Quality Manager will design and refine programs and systems to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain product quality as needed. This position requires collaboration with leaders across various MA departments and locations, as well as engagement with other teams and personnel within the Valent Group Company. Principal Responsibilities: + Develop, implement, and manage a Quality Management System (QMS) at Mycorrhizal Application’s sites. + Lead the commercial QC program for Mycorrhizal Application products and product ingredients to meet the required Regulatory Compliance. + Ensure the Document/Record Control, Nonconforming Work, Corrective Action/Preventive Action and Internal Audit programs are implemented and followed. + Manage activities associated with Management Review and reports on QMS performance to upper management ensuring effectiveness of laboratory activities. + Manage, direct, coach, and develop quality and laboratory staff. + Develop and implement Standard Operational Procedures and training for the Quality team. + Oversee testing and monitoring related to in-process quality control, equipment sanitation and environmental sanitation to include testing of batch attributes, ATP swabbing, cleaning solution titration, packaging inspection, label accuracy, and others as needed. + Use data from testing and monitoring activities to direct operational decisions. + Manage the use of third-party laboratories for sub-contracted work, to include equipment calibrations and material testing and ensure timely and accurate execution of product quality measurements. + Interact and collaborate with company Research Teams (across Valent BioSciences) to prepare and conduct Quality related experiments to support strategic initiatives. This includes lab bioassay and efficacy studies, either performed internally or through a third-party lab. + Manage and process product quality complaints as the local owner of the system. Partner with the responsible department on investigations for customer complaints and work with those departments to develop corrective actions and preventative actions (CAPA) to address complaints or quality near-misses. + Perform and lead facility, raw material, and finished goods’ audits. Audit production facilities and processes for GMP compliance, sanitation compliance, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. + Manage company technical databases such as SAP, BIOVIA Electronic Lab Notebook, LIMS, and Vector EHS for CAPA as the leader of and subject matter expert for the QC program. + Lead and develop QC program reviews for analytical methods and method validation. + Ensure that resources, analytical and QA support activities/projects are on track per business needs and the established timeline. + Manage quality retain and mother culture inventories. Required Skills, and Abilities: + Demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in the management of issues and projects. + Exhibit technical and business leadership in a multidisciplinary environment. + Provide product quality system leadership to business operations. + Function independently and make operational/business decisions with minimum direction from the immediate manager. + Serve as an expert in technical and functional areas. + Exhibit a high level of knowledge and understanding of quality control laboratory operations and requirements. Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor of Science preferred in Biology, Chemistry, Mycology, Microbiology, Food Science, Animal Nutrition, or a related field with between 5 – 8 years of relevant work experience. + Experience with Quality Management Systems and/or ISO 9001:2015 is preferred. + Prior work experience (preferred) with finished goods quality and manufacturing in a sanitary environment (food, pharma, etc.).
