Quality Inspection Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervises quality inspection team members performing daily operations. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable regarding the team member handbook, safety manual, all rules, programs and procedures that pertain to team members.Responsible on Quality inspectors training based on the customer specific requirements.Responsible for product and process quality. Ensures expected quality levels are attained in the assigned products through fulfillment of workmanship standards and quality-program requirements.Identifies and reports quality problems or trends in the assigned area or product based on data from a variety of sources.Observes production operation within their area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, efficient operation of equipment, and takes corrective action to eliminate any deviationRecommends or implements the appropriate corrective action to quality problems in the assigned area, with the aid of engineering, purchasing, etc.Reviews all documentation related to product quality in the assigned area, such as test procedures and operation sheets and approves as appropriate to ensure product quality.Generates or implements defect-reduction activities based off of daily KPI reportsResponsible for assigned control plans. Ensures that all special characteristics are identified on control plan.Defines, develops and maintains whether the incoming inspection is required on incoming materials. Creates and maintains incoming inspection work instructions.Evaluates nonconforming material and initiates supplier containment and corrective actions. Documents quality issues and trends/establishes prioritized improvement plants. Responsible for creating/approving quality standards and boundary samples.Ensures that process changes meet customer requirements. Responsible for updating quality documentation and completing required documentation for customer approval. Responsible for selecting appropriate process controls, defining requirements for data collection, analysis and corrective action.Responsible for applicable TS-16949 and BOS standards.Must be able to evaluate and verify color.

Environmental, Health & Safety:

Support the protection of the environment, personal safety, prevention of pollution and the continual improvement of the Environmental Management System.  Providing leadership to Quality team in preventing accident and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA/TCEQ standards.  This includes: continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous environmental, health, and safety conditions.Ensure environmental, health and safety hazards are corrected, eliminated or guarded as related to Quality teamWithin scope of responsibilities assessing engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE on an on-going basisAssisting in the investigation of accidents. Having the authority to: Stop and prevent unsafe actions; stop the use of unsafe equipment and tools, stop work and/or have employees leave a work areaAbility to participate in investigation of near misses and other environmental/safety-related incidents that have occurredEnsure that all department related incident reports are completed in a timely and accurate mannerEnsure all Quality inspectors are taking the appropriate Safety trainings.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceTwo (2) years as an Associate Quality Supervisor or equivalent.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Must be familiar with appropriate software programs. Must be able to stand and walk throughout the production enviornment for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 30 lbs from the floor.
