Quality Engineer I

Job Summary

The Quality Engineer I is responsible for quality inspections and for monitoring of operations for compliance to client and regulatory requirements. Provides quality assurance related oversight, support, and consultation for technical engineering, design, analysis related work. Establishes and evaluates the implementation of the quality assurance program and communicates quality information and trends. Contributes to a broad cross-section of product lines and interfaces with all parts of the technical and support communities. Understands and is technically knowledgeable in multiple engineering disciplines.

This role is responsible to implement improved quality metrics and measurements, ensure that practices are followed consistently across the organization, and drive new quality initiatives across the development organization. 

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Report supplier performance and quality to management Ensure compliance to the Cirrus quality system and requirements Track and qualify or disqualify suppliers according to organization’s standards Maintain successful relationships with suppl, engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory departments Maintains product quality acceptance standards Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective action to improve product quality Gathers information to evaluate supplier processes in order to determine applicable quality and regulatory requirements are met Communicate company and quality assurance objectives and goals to suppliers Runs and maintains internal quality metrics, reports, and facilitates action plans Issues corrective actions and provides proper follow-up for quality system and product nonconformances

Knowledgeable in the use of various problem-solving and quality engineering methodologies such as process mapping, Failure Modes, and Effects Analysis, statistical techniques such as Analysis of Variance, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility, and Process Capability Studies Quality Engineers use the principle statistics, calculus, trigonometry, and other advanced topics in mathematics for analysis, design, and troubleshooting in their work Knowledge in Database software, Design software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software Be able to coordinate between diverse group of individuals including engineering, supply chain, purchasing, operators/technicians, and management Be able to clearly communicate problem statements, root cause analysis and corrective action solutions to stakeholders Be able to read drawings and basic knowledge of GD&T Have basic knowledge of inspections equipment such as height gauges, CMMs, portable CMMS, laser trackers, etc

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree program from a four-year college or university in a STEM discipline preferred
