JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
The Quality Engineer conducts day to day analysis to provide quality assurance support and refines production methods. Analyzes data to provide continuous improvements in the supplier's products. Develops methods for testing, sampling and training to ensure required standards are being met. Conducts audits and creates finding reports to determine corrective and preventative action.
Specific Duties:
The Quality Engineer complies with all BOS, ISO/TS-16949 and Customer Specific requirements.Understands Plant/Customer KPI’s and works with team to meet and exceed.Participates as Layered Process Auditor if instructed by Manager.Responsible to ensure that continuous improvement is made in all Production Quality Deliverables.Provide support on PPAP package preparation for product submissions and approval by appropriate Customer personnel. Obtain approval of submission packages from the Product Service Manager or Quality Manager prior to submission to the Customer.Develop and update Control Plan as required.Support the Manufacturing Engineer in updating the PFMEA as required.Develop appropriate inspection plans and containment plans.The Quality Engineer will utilize all Customer-specific systems.Responsible to conduct capability studies, and ensure that they are properly performed and documented for special characteristics, and that Customer and internal requirements are met (or a written Customer deviation is obtained).Support the continuous improvement of the Operation Description Sheets (ODS).Identify and utilize the appropriate statistical tools. Mentor team members on proper statistical application and techniques.Interface with assigned external customers as the single point contact for issue resolution.Responsible for completion of any customer specific advanced quality planning requirements.Responsible for writing and submitting 8-Ds to the customer in a timely manner.Visit the customer on an as needed basis.Communicate between the customer and the plant.Initiates the Quality Alert when concerns arise and follow the alert until it is closed.Confirm all customer return material analysis root causes and corrective actions.Qualification Requirements:
2+ years of Quality experience in the Automotive industry.College degree in Engineering (preferred).Strongd leadership, communication and negotiation skills.Environmental, Health & Safety:
Support the protection of the environment, personal safety, prevention of pollution and the continual improvement of the Environmental Management System. Providing leadership to Quality team in preventing accident and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA/TCEQ standards. This includes: continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous environmental, health, and safety conditions.Ensure environmental, health and safety hazards are corrected, eliminated or guarded as related to Quality teamWithin scope of responsibilities assessing engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE on an on-going basisAssisting in the investigation of accidents. Having the authority to: Stop and prevent unsafe actions; stop the use of unsafe equipment and tools, stop work and/or have employees leave a work areaAbility to participate in investigation of near misses and other environmental/safety-related incidents that have occurredEnsure that all department related incident reports are completed in a timely and accurate mannerThe job description outlined above is not intended to be a detailed list of job functions or responsibilities.
