Position Description
The Quality Engineer is responsible for performing quality tasks such as analyzing data, reporting research results, technical understanding, promoting process improvement, developing standards, supporting processes, manufacturing methods and procedures by working closely with the Quality Manager.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Works closely with the quality manager and production team to research and analyze non-conformances, shortages and other issues related to customer non-satisfaction as well as in-process manufacturing issues. (Root cause and corrective actions) Determines quality improvement opportunities from the above analysis and raises awareness of the importance of quality through training and working with others. Autonomous, having the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction using a hands-on approach; providing support as needed. Provide inspection data and quality assurance reports to quality manager and senior management as necessary. Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error; determining levels of process confidence. Develop sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations for continuous improvement. Contributes to team effort by collaborating with members of the quality group as well as other departments. Engage with quality, engineering and manufacturing regarding the non-conforming materials (NCM’s) process seeking resolves to issues that meet both the Company and customer’s expectations. Embrace a fast-paced environment that requires a sense of urgency in relation to the needs of both internal and external customers. Manage transition from old products being discontinued to new products being introduced Other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Company.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the Quality Engineer role:
Minimum, Associate Degree or 5+ years of experience in a similar engineering position Ability to read and understand machining & assembly drawings Technical understanding with a hands-on approach Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently Ability to objectively review, understand and organize data Excellent verbal and written communication skills Intermediate to advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite) Understanding of QA processes for data collection and analysis (5-why’s, corrective action, 8-D, etc.) Process Improvement and Development using quality tools (5-why’s, corrective action, 8-D, etc.) Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers; problem resolution skills; understand competitive market; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment. Detailed oriented, well-organized; self-starter; ability to work under minimal supervision. Dependable and self-motivatedPhysical Demands
