The Purpose of the Role

We have\nan opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Smart Energy Thermal\nSolution team in Johannesburg.

At the\nJohannesburg site we manufacture and supply high quality water metering products\nto our customers within the region.

Working\nas part of the site leadership and technical team, the successful candidate\nwill own end to end Quality for the site starting to ensure that we offer\nproducts and services that surpasses the customers’ expectations for high\nquality offerings.

They will\nalso be responsible for maintaining ISO and/or other standard requirements for the\nsite. All the key metrics must be met and will drive corrective actions for any\ndeviations from the target and ensure implementation and sustenance of\ncorrective actions taken. They shall lead from the front to showcase a ‘ZERO\nDefects’ culture.

Key Responsibilities

Accountable for End-to-End Quality on all\n aspects for products and customers.Able to Lead Quality Management System\n implementation (ISO9001) and other QMS standards and internal and external\n audits coordination as well as provide follow up on corrective actions\n implementation/closure driven from audit findings to eliminate gaps against\n the ISO standard.Work with the site Operations and Technical\n team to drive quality metrics to exceed plan.Initiate, investigate, bring to closure, and\n document customer complaints by providing satisfactory results of problem\n root cause elimination.Improve First Pass Yield, Reduce Manufacturing\n Scrap and reduce warranty costs.Understand the product returns and drive\n improvements on product performance.Measure Cpk for Critical processes at each\n site Approve Returns materials decisions and work\n on strategic warranty processes.
Create appropriate MOS for measurement and\n tracking of all Quality metrics, representing performance data for the\n site at EMEA Quality team level.Perform Failure tracking, root cause analysis\n to identify trends and ensure implementation of effective corrective action.Utilize standard statistical analysis and\n problem-solving techniques to determine product acceptance and evaluate\n process capabilities to eliminate product/ process wastes regarding\n quality.Define, implement, and validate process\n controls to avoid defective product escapes to internal or external customers.Work with site cross functional team to ensure\n that critical issues are resolved with minimum downtime for manufacturing lines.

YOU MUST HAVE

>3 years' experience working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment as part of cross-functional site teamBachelor’s degree Quality, Engineering or\n Supply Chain/Operations ManagementAbility to influence and provide leadership\n across a cross-functional organization.Lean Experience and/or Green Belt certified.Strong experience of high-volume low mix manufacturingPractical knowledge of ISO9001:2015 and other\n Quality and Industry standardsEnsure lab accreditation in compliance with\n SANAS regulations (leading audits with SANAS)Run approval processes of products with SABS\n and NRCSUnderstand the national standard\n LM-P-045-09-19Experience of leading site audits and active engagement\n with industry and government regulatory bodiesTrack record of achieving results in\n challenging assignmentsExcellent business acumen to facilitate teams through\n end-to-end value stream activities.Results oriented with history of achievement\n against stretch goals, able to develop and deliver against plan.In depth knowledge of Quality Improvement\n Tools, Problem Solving Tools & Techniques – Six Sigma, SPC, 5Why’s,\n FMEA & Control Plans, Capability studies (Cp, CpK, PpK) etc.Self-motivated with positive attitude that\n focus on delivering results; able to work independently with minimum\n supervision.Extensive experience driving continuous\n improvement and process excellence. Project management experience to manage\n multiple priorities in a highly matrixed organization.Self-motivated with positive attitude that\n focus on delivering results; able to work independently with minimum\n supervision.Excellent communication skills with history of\n influencing multiple levels of the organization.
