Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer provides technical support between Engineering, Production, and Product Design departments as needed. Investigates quality concerns, both internally and at the customer site. Initiates the corrective action team and is responsible for monitoring and implementing corrective and preventive action.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Supports the APQP team in developing new products by providing all necessary quality related information. Prepares and submits PPAP or similar requirements to customers, as required. Works with overseas divisions to coordinate customer requirements for pass through product Visits customers/suppliers on a regular basis to establish a positive rapport. Additionally, visits the customer to resolve quality concerns and sort questionable product to ensure quality standards are met. Investigates the root cause of quality defects at the customer and those that arise out of warranty claims. Completes Corrective Action Reports (CAR’s) using appropriate quality methods. Ex: 5 Whys, 8D’s or CRR. Develops/Maintains warranty return packages for use in market share rate negotiations directly with the customer. Monitors customer portals to determine any market return Initiates and updates quality documents including control plans, inspection standards, etc. Maintains and updates corrective action log and problem history. Verifies and monitors corrective and preventive action effectiveness. Coordinates and assists the Quality Lab with the performance of dimensional and reliability tests. Makes day-to-day quality decisions and provides guidance to production, as necessary. Assists in new product preparation/implementation. Ensures all work areas meet 5S standards. Complies with IATF-16949 and ISO 9001 requirements. Follows all procedures and work instructions and make recommendations to improve the process. Notifies Leader immediately upon detecting any non-conformances. Records all non-conformances to ensure corrective action and preventative measures are taken and assists in the problem solving process. Communicates and practices DENSO’s Quality and Environmental Management Systems. Takes an active role in achieving and maintaining IATF-16949 and ISO-9001requiremetns. May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.Skills and Abilities:
Needs to understand variable and attribute gauge reproducibility and repeatability (R&R), process capability (CpK) and have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent field with a minimum of 3 years of related experience. Understands and applies Statistical Process Control methods (SPC). Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word & Excel.Preferred Qualifications:
ASQ, CQE certification is a plus.Salary Range: $66,200 - $82,800
