We employ over 800 people across our operations in Cork and Dublin.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time permanent position of Quality Assurance Technician, reporting to the QES Lab Team Lead in Midleton Distillery.

Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to conduct laboratory analysis associated with Midleton Distillery including analysis of raw materials, intermediates and final products (spirits and animal feeds), environmental and utilities analysis. In addition, the role involves projects for continual improvement in the laboratory as well as projects to improve plant performance.

Key responsibilities include:

Conducting laboratory analysis according to laboratory procedures and arranging for external analysisWriting test reports and trending of data where requiredIdentifying and communication of incidents and non-conformances when laboratory analysis results and site specifications and procedures are not metLead laboratory investigations into non-conforming resultsEnsuring that all laboratory procedures are adhered toAdhering to occupational health and safety risk assessment and ensuring that Health & Safety is a priority in the laboratory.Providing KPI (Key Performance Indicator) informationWrite, review and update laboratory procedures and recordsMaintaining laboratory supplies; chemicals, consumables and stationeryConducting projects; including carrying out research, laboratory analysis and reporting of resultsImplementation of continual improvement in the laboratory including new and improved methods of analysisLiaising with manufacturers on equipment services and calibrations and documentation as required.Member of the QSE Internal Audit Team and Housekeeping & Hygiene Audit TeamMaintain Laboratory to a high housekeeping standard

Skills and attributes required

3rd level qualification in Science /Food SciencePrevious relevant laboratory experience working in a laboratory within ISO/BRC/ GMP environmentKnowledge of ISO9001, ISO22000 and ISO14001Experience working with electronic documentation systems e.g. LIMS, LESExcellent scientific knowledgeExcellent analytical skills, high level of attention to detail requiredExperience in writing reports and trending of dataGood organisational skills required to work in a fast-paced production laboratoryProactive approach to Health & SafetyTeam player with excellent communication skills, Self-Starter, highly motivated

Skills and attributes desirable

Knowledge of brewing and distillingTrained in Sensory EvaluationTrained internal auditor

We’re looking for someone with flexibility in their working hours, as this role will include weekends and an occasional evening shift (11:00-19:30). Typical working hours are 07:00-15:30 (Monday to Thursday), 07:00-14:30 (Friday). Additionally, you’ll be required to work 2 weekend days per month (either Saturday or Sunday).
