Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will have the opportunity to support the full lifecycle of ABB pulp-and-paper quality control products at ABB customer facilities under general supervision. This includes performing preventive and corrective maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of proprietary ABB hardware and software, as well as assisting with any projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced services for the technician’s assigned customer or region. This individual will be required to work independently or as part of a small site team to provide service for customers of ABB pulp-and-paper quality control solutions.The work model for the role is onsite. #LI-OnsiteThis role is contributing to the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics division in Cleveland, OH.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tMaintain ABB’s suite of quality control hardware and software. This includes but is not limited to; cleaning debris from sensors, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues with the frame and sensor package, troubleshooting the computer system and HMI/control software, and maintaining the working state of the entire ABB quality control solution at site. Handle customer questions about the state of the ABB system.•\tHandle customer service-related issues while fostering the customer relationship and working to solve technical problems on-site. Deal directly with, and communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, 3rd party vendors, and other ABB personnel in support of service operations.•\tOn call for 24-hour emergency support service requests. Team rotation in most areas. •\tTroubleshoot and repair equipment applying own technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Training on ABB products and services will be provided; however, a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety is required for the training to be beneficial. •\tAccurately document the work that is performed at a customer facility and/or project staging area. Professionally document work completed on periodic preventive maintenance as well as intermittent corrective maintenance tasks.•\tWhen required, play an active role in various projects such as upgrades, new installations, or new functionality for customers. Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments.•\tBasic to advanced understanding of the paper making process and process control a plus•\tExposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial but not requiredOur team dynamicsYou will join a talented, high performing team, where you will be able to thrive.

Qualifications for the role

\tAssociates Degree in a related field and 5 years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related work experience required\tMilitary electronics programs may be considered equivalent to this typical qualification\tExperience or a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments will be considered equivalent to this typical qualification\tExperience using electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters safely\tMechanical/Electrical aptitude is strongly preferred\tDiagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment\tKnow how to identify voltage systems that are above the level 240 VAC/870 VDC so they can safely avoid contact\tUp to 75% travel\tAbility to read electrical drawings and utilize for troubleshooting electrical systems is required
