Job Description

As a Purchasing Senior Manager, you receive meaningful responsibilities from day 1. You oversee maintaining and expanding a long-term partnership with your stakeholders (internal and external) by continuously proposing solutions and plans that meet business objectives. To do so, you'll develop a keen sense of understanding of your internal need and external environment. You will strategically bring the outside in through relationship management and linking & leveraging. While building your sourcing and negotiation strategies, you will continuously use skills in analytics and insights to bring these to life. Your key deliverables include productivity targets on cost and cash, excellence in stewardship and governance and citizenship.

You'll be part of a purchasing team in which trust, team spirit, real passion for winning and leadership are very important.

Your team

This role reports to Purchasing Director who is responsible for Indirect Purchases for South Africa.

Stewardship and Governance:

• Plan, Execute and Review appropriate internal controls to protect Company’s assets.

• Regular documentation reviews in line with stewardship guidelines

• Lead audit processes as required

• Demonstrate stewardship across all key action areas – business and fundamentals reporting.

• Leverages multi-functional resources to analyse key gaps

Organization

• Understand and build skills within the organization

• Personal Mastery of Purchasing Skills Framework.

• Lead or support Purchasing E&I and Citizenship projects

Responsibilities of the role

Participate as a critical member of a cross-functional team in one of our Organizational Units (like Business or Market) to deliver a new service or technology to market.Partnering with multi-functional organizations to improve our efficiency and effectiveness at reaching P&G consumers with super communication.Encourage innovation from our external business partners by building a relationship with P&G and describing what P&G is looking for.Working with internal customers and with the management of supplier companies to resolve financial or supply or quality issues that affect our business plans.Owns definition and execution of sourcing tactics, including stakeholder alignment and external communicationLeads projects on defined intervention areas (savings, technical, cost structure, relationship, stewardship)Analyzing market trends and supplier landscapeProviding insights and recommendations to senior management and suppliersSpotting and exploiting emerging trends and technologiesUncovering business-building ideas and cost-saving opportunitiesDesigning sourcing strategies that improves the value, availability and technology of the serviceStriking deals through negotiation or leading competitive biddingBuilding effective working relationships with suppliersCreating and capitalizing on new approaches such as e-marketplaces

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of Purchasing & Financial experience in FMCG environmentLeader who are passionate to make things happen, collaborating well with diverse groups of peopleHave an external focus and a real passion for Purchasing / Marketing & FinanceAnalytical Skills - Demonstrate ability to visualize, articulate concepts and solve problems, and make or influence decisions that make sense based on available information. Apply logical thinking to capturing and analyzing information, crafting and testing solutions to problems, and formulating plans.Ownership and Leadership - Ability to recognize strategic opportunities and be able to enroll others in disruptive thinking to get results. Ability to influence across functional boundaries (Brand Managers, Finance, Legal, Operations, Purchases) to develop and deliver strategy and relationship management action plans to achieve outstanding results.Ability to Build and Sustain Relationships - Demonstrate ability to lead high-level interactions with internal business partners, suppliers and agencies, working effectively across functions, geographies and cultures. Must be able to build relationships and influence others via excellent interpersonal skills, despite many remote relationships. You will invest significant time/effort to handle supplier relationship(s), development of supplier relationship management strategies and execution of joint business plans.
