Company Overview:   Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. (ESAero) is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area that provides various services ,  which include but are not limited to rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing,  electrified aircraft propulsion expertise ,  and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.    Responsibilities and Duties: + Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified costs, quality and delivery targets + Support ES Aero’s internal customers by proactively communicating any supply problems which may impact business operations + Act as an interface between suppliers and internal departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities + Work with Engineering and Suppliers to reduce costs and improve quality of purchased materials + Responsible for ensuring that Purchase Order due dates are valid + Responsible for maintaining accurate cost and lead time data on purchased items + Work with Planning and Engineering to implement engineering changes + Support ERP development and implementation + Solve procurement problems when they occur + Work with Suppliers and Engineering to resolve quality issues + Work with finance to resolve A/P issues + Work will be conducted in an office environment. Required Qualifications and Skills:   + A High School diploma or equivalent is required.  A BS or AA degree is preferred.   Any APICS or NAPM training and/or certification is desirable. + This position requires a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in purchasing.  Hands-on experience with procurement using a formal MRP system is a must.  Additional experience working with new product introductions or engineering projects is a plus.  Familiarity with electronics manufacturing is preferred.  Understanding of inventory control methods and production control techniques is also preferred. + Ability to read and understand MRP reports + Ability to use a formal MRP system to review time-phased requirements + Familiarity with commercial electronics building practices and components is desired + Take responsibility for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with qualified Suppliers + Ability to read blueprints + Ability to negotiate terms and pricing for materials and services + Ability to review cost/quantity choices and make cost effective decisions + Ability to work with windows based personal computers + Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision + Must have good oral and written communication skills.  Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and Supplier. + Ability to analyze and solve problems.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  Must be able to work with engineering to define optimal procurement solutions and effectively implement changes.
