WATE-TV On Your Side in Knoxville, Tennessee is looking for an AFTERNOON part-time Operations Technician.  The Operations Technician primary duties are operating the teleprompter for live newscasts, studio maintenance, and floor directing.  There are also opportunities to participate in other special projects running camera and other production duties as directed.

This is a entry level position to live TV production.  A background in media is preferred but not required.  Working well in a team, being on time and understanding deadlines is required

Operates studio cameras and field cameras for live and taped eventsComposes and frames shots, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses and camera settings to achieve the effects sought by directors, station management, other personnelAdjusts positions and controls of cameras to change focus, exposure and lighting as requested by the directors, station management, other personnelOperates audio equipment for live and taped eventsCollaborate with the director and studio staff to coordinate the action in the studioBuilds and decorates the set and/or provides props used for productionAssist in the installation, operation and maintenance of sound recording equipmentProvide audio production-related support as needed and may work with outside production facilitiesAssist in digital media productions, liaising with appropriate departmentsMaintains and stores equipment.

Requirements & Skills:

Experience in television, film, or post production preferred but not requiredMust be able to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production and engineering staffDetail oriented with time management focusExcellent communication and organization skillsExperience with Overdrive automation is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

The Operations Technician must be able to sit for extended periods of time, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.  In addition, the Operations Technician must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls.  Repetitive movements are required.  Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Be able to climb a 10-foot ladder. And individual can carry 25 pounds.
