Join us as a Protection Services Manager Operations where you will be accountable to the head of Protection Services for all issues relating to the management and optimisation of Protection Services for Anglo American Platinum. The role needs to initiate appropriate strategies, policies and systems within the Operation to minimize risks relating to the security of employees and assets.

Job DescriptionYour responsibilities will also include:
Direct, plan and co-ordinated work for the Protection Services team through effective liaison with Operation Management and the Head of Protection Services.Effective planning for the Protection Services department in the operation.Continuously liaise with the Operation Manager on business strategy and policies and day to day developmentsMonitoring security indicators and trends in the organization and identifying optimization proposalsEnsure availability of the necessary resources.Monitoring and advising on Protection Services equipment, techniques and methodologies to support business initiatives.Develop contingency plans to ensure that the operation is protected from risk.Identify security technologies and approaches that would be effective for the operation.Initiate and monitor improvement projects.Identify, promote and communicate best practices applicable to the role through benchmarking other organizationsIdentify and manage investigations requiring expert advisors or dedicated teams.Monitor and build relationships with the community and local law enforcement agencies.Implement and manage information gathering systems within the operation to support management decision making for the protection of assets and employees.Effective two-way communication.Develop a trusting and mutually respectful relationship with internal and external service suppliers.Ensure that employees work in a safe and productive environment.Manage employee performance.Support and participate in the training and development of staff.Ensure that employees have clear work instructions and plans.Support the induction of new employees.Interview potential new recruits.Hold disciplinary and grievance enquiries.Identify potential conflict situations and minimize the implications.Control discipline and ensure fair decisions regarding Employee Relations.Fairly manage cultural diversity.Identify ideas to increase motivation and competencies.Compile accurate reports related to the role.Design and implement security policies and procedures required by the operation which are aligned to AAP Policy.Support projects for the implementation of applicable work practices to support policies.Manage financial budgeting and planning processes to organizations guidelines for the Protection Services department.Ensure security and accuracy of systems and information.Effective administration of criminal investigations through to conviction.Ensure that effective security systems are in place to protect cash, bullion, explosives, valuable material and assets.Ensure that security systems and procedures are effective, legal, integrated with other organizational systems and understood by employees.Ensure that the appropriate systems and controls are in place to manage resources, assets and ensure good corporate governance.This role is at a band 6 and reporting to the Senior Protection Services Manager.
QualificationsYou will be required to have the following:
National Diploma in Security Management or EquivalentB Tech in Security Management or equivalent NQF level 7 (Degree) qualification will be advantageousHandle and use a Shotgun for Business PurposesHandle and use a Handgun for Business PurposesHandle and use a Self-loading Rifle for Business PurposesPSIRA Armed responses coursePSIRA Bullion Cash in Transit (as per operational requirement)Registered with the PSIRA on grade AValid driver’s licence code BTactical firearms qualification will be advantageousExperience, Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum 8 Years’ experience in Security or equivalent environment with exposure in Investigation / Crime Information analysis / Information gathering and Surveillance5 Years’ experience in security managementKnowledge of strategic and operational planning and managementCompetent in functional systems used in the organizationProject management skillsUnderstanding and recognition of criminal incident behaviour and suspect profilingBasic knowledge of applicable business communication and business reports writingComputer literacy (MS Office package)Handling and protecting the crime sceneResponding to violent crimesEmergency preparedness and response to various situationsKnowledge in Investigation / information gathering / Logistics and SurveillanceCounter Industrial Action practicalApplicable SAPS firearm competencyProtection Services InductionVoluntary Principles on Security and Human RightsAdditional InformationPass polygraph testMedical Fitness CertificateWho We Are
