Job Description
Position Summary
The Property Tax Analyst is responsible for receiving, processing, paying and reconciling the real estate and personal property tax payments for the portfolio of properties across the United States. + Process real estate and personal property tax bills for field and corporate locations timely.
+ Process tax bills using Basware and JD Edwards (ERP system). Analyze whether payments are escrow or company paid, code and flow for approvals following signatory authority policies.
+ Contact escrow agents to notify same of parcel information, upcoming due dates and amounts for property tax bills.
+ Compile tax checks with tax bill coupons from jurisdictions, and remit payment via certified mail. Maintain a filing system of payments processed for proof of payment inquiries.
+ Open mail related to property taxes and other affiliated correspondence. Scan and email property tax bills to the service provider daily. Distribute any additional mail as necessary to appropriate parties.
+ Review Quality Control report daily to determine if any tax bills are in jeopardy of being paid late and notify department manager of possible delays in processing.
+ Reconcile payments completed by escrow agents and provide backup for accurate payment matching within the ERP system.
+ Research payment status and answer inquiries from both outside vendors and internal staff which includes collaborating as necessary to resolve any escrow account reconciliation discrepancies.
+ Coordinate with Treasury to complete two-month payment forecasting reviews during monthly cross-team meetings.
+ Evaluate and approve access requests for PTAX system, learn the system to provide guidance to end users and communicate with their counterpart to coordinate approvals and payments of bills as necessary.
+ Respond to customer inquiries from both internal and external customers via phone and email, research payment status and provide details as necessary to applicable stakeholders, including corresponding with taxing jurisdictions as needed regarding penalties, and other inquiries.
+ Maintain files and procedure documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
+ Fulfill internal and external audit requests.
+ Assist in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED required
+ Bachelor’s degree, accounting or finance preferred
+ 2-4 years experience in Accounting, Finance or related field
+ Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills
+ Customer service experience, with the ability to compose and convey clear and concise instructions both orally and in writing
+ Experience with JD Edwards Enterprise One (or similar ERP system’s A/P module)
+ Familiarity with electronic invoice processing software (Basware preferred)
+ Dedicated self-starter with good organization skills who can handle multiple tasks simultaneously
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced team-based environment and to interact with all levels within the Company
+ Sound analytical ability and reasoning skills
+ Possesses a can-do attitude and requires minimal daily work direction
+ Strong work ethic with good attendance record
