Skookum is seeking a hardworking and knowledgeable Property Management – Safety Specialist with a positive attitude.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Monitor safety programs to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
Conduct risk assessments and generate reports on how risks can be mitigated.
Provide new-hire health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
Conduct routine inspection of life and safety equipment to ensure its functionality and availability for use. Conduct EHS audits, inspections, hazard assessments and investigation of violations as required and make recommendations based off findings.
Work in a constructive, positive manner with a wide range of personalities and across management and organizational boundaries.
Verify that hazardous chemicals are marked, handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with regulations.
Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks: i.e. Hazard
Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space and other assigned duties. Conduct training programs and the training of staff at all levels, including hires, in company safety policies, practices and programs i.e. Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space and other assigned duties.
Investigate and resolve issues related to lost, damaged, or misused GFP, preparing reports for leadership and government agencies as required.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of Army Logistics & Occupational experience is preferred; First Aid/CPT Certification, OSHA 10 & 30, Hazard Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), or Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certifications preferred.
Working knowledge of managing government property is preferred.
Prior service 92A/92Y preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements:
A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
