The Client

Our legal client in Bristol has a permanent Property and Casualty Claims Handler vacancy to join their friendly team!

The Property & Casualty (P&C) team is part of the firm's insurance group and has a well-established client base. The team handles a broad range of claims arising from property damage, including fire, water, subsidence, construction, and impact damage.

The role will suit someone experienced with litigation and is similar to a paralegal / litigation executive role.

This is a full-time role working Monday - Friday 09.30 - 5.30 pm. Hybrid working is available, working approx. 3 days in the office.

The Role

We are seeking a Claims Handler to join the dynamic and growing Property and Casualty team in Bristol. The role involves managing a caseload of subrogated recovery matters for various insurers.

You will be responsible for handling property recovery claims from the initial instruction through to pre-action and, if necessary, litigation. Familiarity with the Civil Procedure Rules is essential.

The work is diverse and challenging, offering the chance to work on cases ranging from £10,000 to millions of pounds. As you demonstrate success, you will be given autonomy in managing your files. Opportunities for business development and client engagement will also arise.

ResponsibilitiesManage a large caseload of property insurance claims.Deliver high-quality, timely service to clients in line with agreed practices and service level agreements.Collate and provide required management information for clients.Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of team processes and procedures.
Skills and ExperienceExperience in claims handling and managing a caseload.Litigation experience and familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules are required. Insurance experience is desirable but not essential.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to build internal relationships and deliver excellent client service.Commercial, proactive approach, with strong time management.Good knowledge of legal procedures and Microsoft Office.Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work collaboratively in a supportive and inclusive environment.
