Please note that this position will be supporting the UK region and therefore, working UK hours (10:00 - 18:30 SA time and until 19:30 during daylight saving)
Position Overview:
The Property Accounting Consultant will work closely with clients, providing comprehensive property accounting services while also serving as a consultant to support implementations and the wider managed services team. This dual role involves handling subledger and general ledger activities, ensuring financial accuracy, and offering expert guidance on best practices for property management software. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in various projects, develop expertise in industry-leading systems, and work in a client-facing capacity.
Responsibilities:
Property Accounting Duties:
Administer all levels of property accounting and manage special projects as needed by management.
Assist in creating transactions, invoicing tenants, and posting receipts for tenant payments.
Perform credit control activities, including aged debt reporting, sending arrears letters, and liaising with tenants.
Support supplier invoice coding and produce supplier statements.
Oversee the full end-to-end service charge process, including raising accounts, recovering expenditure, billing voids, and performing year-end reconciliations.
Conduct bank reconciliations and assist with VAT reporting.
Perform month-end and year-end activities, such as closing periods, running general ledger reports, and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
Assist in onboarding new property portfolios, including static lease data and financial opening balances.
Manage lease administration, including reconciling portfolio data against client leases and overseeing the lease lifecycle.
Consultant Duties:
Guide new clients through the configuration of MRI systems.
Report building
Deliver ongoing professional services, including data manipulation, imports, and extractions using MRI tools.
Maintain an expert level of knowledge of MRI Property Management solutions.
Requirements:
Must be able to work UK hours and South African public holidays (UK bank holidays will be observed instead).
2-4 years of experience as a property accountant within a commercial or residential management company.
Business analysis and process improvement expertise.
Ideally have previous experience of providing consultancy around configurable software solutions.
Ideally have SQL knowledge.
