Project Supervisor

Client facing role supervising the safe delivery of project contracts from inception to completion including the management of contractors, externalstakeholders and liaisonwith the resident BGIS site team. Assisting the Project Manager to ensure project profitably in line with expected Gross Profit and to ensure practical completion and prompt billing.

The candidate should have a clear understanding of the requirements to self-deliver projectsfrom commencement to completion in line with the BGIS procedures and culture.

Project Planning

Assist Project Management team by accompanying sub-contractors to attendsite to evaluate new project opportunities. Supervision of projects with safety and customer satisfaction as a priority. Explain implications of changesto project scope and/or objectives to the client and to the project team. Manage the subcontract team to prioritize tasks outstanding, obstaclesor barriers, budgets, resources and deadlines. Create, or participate in the creationof project documentation. Ensure all project documentation is in place and suitableprior to any start on site. Develop a relationship with the client stakeholders, team members, or contract personnel to ensure the defined solution,established project time lines and budgets, are all as expected. Work with the ProjectManager/ Head of Projects to ensure changesare understood and approved. Forward plan to recognizepotential programme implications.

Project accounting and finance

Understand profit& loss and cost-to-completion projections; and communicate issuesto the Project Manager/Head of Projects so that actions can be agreed accordingly. Understand pricingmodel and billingprocedures. Work closely with the Project Manager/Head of Projects to accurately forecast revenue, profitability, margins and billing. Track and report team hours and expenses on a weeklybasis. Determine the appropriate revenuerecognition, ensuring timelyand accurate completion of works to enable invoicing.

 

Project control

The Project Supervisor is to be responsible for the safe running of their own projects and assist in the completion of a Construction Phase Plan as part of their project control methodology. Ensure that each projectruns in conjunction with the Construction Phase Plan and that each person involved in the project is proven to have the required skills. Manage scope creep through client change orders, internal change orders, phased delivery or other methodsto ensure projectsdeliver on time line, scope, budget and strategy expectations. Ensure project meets internaland client expectations with respect to quality, budget, delivery time lines. Identify, track, manage and mitigate risk on specificclient engagements. Escalatethese issues when necessary to ensure minimal impact to quality, budget, and time line. Where project control is in jeopardy,assist the ProjectManager /Head of Projects in creating contingency plans with appropriate input from key team members and implement a revised project schedule, scope or budget in a timely manner.

Project communication

Work with project team to ensureclients achieve an understanding of expectations, deliverable, dependencies, risks, progress and the works development process. Communicate progress, risks, expectations, time lines, milestones and other key project metrics to clients and team members in a timely and professional manner both orally and in writing.

Internal project reporting and administration

Attend project review meetings.

Resource management

Experience of Supervising projects£50k to £1m plus. Understand projectroles of team members based on projectrequirements, time frames and budget. Work with external contractors in addition to internal resources. Understand skill sets (competencies) required for the project based on project specifications and requirements.

Client management

Continually seek opportunities to increase customersatisfaction and deepen client relationships. Build a knowledge base of each client’s business,organization and objectives. Work with the day-to-day client team. Set and manages clientexpectations.

Must be willing to travel outsideLondon including occasional over-night stays. Develop sales ability. Demonstrated abilityto establish and maintain effectiverelationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in supervising complexprojects that are strategic in nature and scope. Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to executeprojects on time and quality. Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and with minimalsupervision. Demonstrated abilityto work in a smallteam setting. Good computer skills, proficient with MS officeapplications. Ability to communicate effectively and fluently. Superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence etc.).
