This position will be located at GPC Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. Hybrid work schedule (both in-office and telecommute); currently three (3) days in-office and two (2) days telecommute (subject to adjustment). Relocation assistance may be provided if the successful candidate does not currently live within a reasonable commute distance. This position will require minimal travel (day or overnight, approx. 10%) and the ability to work successfully in a remote/virtual environment with access to internet service.POSITION SUMMARY
As the electric utility continues to evolve presenting multiple opportunities for the Company as it plans for its current and future generation fleet, GPC Resource Planning within SCS System Planning is at the forefront of these efforts. During this exciting time in the industry, the department is engaged along many fronts to help shape the future of the generation fleet as we continue to deliver clean, safe, reliable, and affordable power to our customers. The department’s engagement occurs through leading the development of the Integrated Resource Plan, supporting Generation Procurement and Generation Development, and working across multiple organizations in the evaluation of proposed energy policies, incorporating Company strategic initiatives and developing innovative programs and services for customers, all while ensuring reliable service. As a Planning Analyst in Resource Planning, an individual will gain experience across the vast array of activities in the group and will be involved in determining the Company’s path forward as well as supporting efforts to meet our customer and regulatory obligations. This truly is an exciting time in the industry and in SCS System Planning and GPC Resource Planning.
This position serves as an analyst supporting one or more of the following: development and implementation of the Company's Integrated Resource Plan, support of procurement of long-term purchased power from independent power producers, involvement with Company-owned generation development, avoided cost filings, resource certification filings with the Public Service Commission, planning-related legislative and regulatory policy support, planning oversight of Georgia Power wholesale assets, and other resource planning projects. This position will have responsibility for drafting Resource Policy and Planning-related content for EIA filings, rating agency presentations, as well as bond counsel due diligence. Additionally, this position will have responsibility for specified aspects of drafting and preparation of regulatory filings and associated data requests, development of PowerPoint presentations, performing secondary research, spreadsheet analysis, management of assigned project activities and coordination with other departments regarding project activities. The position works with large and diverse teams from across departments within GPC and SCS to accomplish objectives and is a part of System Planning affording the successful candidate great opportunities to learn analysis, topics and issues that are fundamental to the business.
The Resource Planning team currently has a hybrid work schedule including plans to be in the office on average three days a week. We do incorporate flexibility, but also the job could require more than three days in the office in a week if necessary.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree is preferred. BS, BA, or BBA in Economics, Business, Finance or Engineering would be desired. MBA or other advanced degree(s) a plus.Experience:
Experience collaborating with multiple groups/departments/teams to accomplish project goals and timelines is required. Experience with analyzing data and/or numerical analysis is required. Desired experience in the areas of: Generation planning and analysis Economic evaluations State regulatory process Negotiation and management of power purchase agreements Transmission analysis and policy Generation development Environmental Planning and operations of renewable generation Project management Application of PURPA and related state requirements as applicable to GPCKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Working knowledge of the electric industry and familiarity with generation planning. Ability to quickly review and comprehend technical information and data and to identify key issues. Excellent writing and speaking skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines.
