Project Manager III – Composites

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a passionate and accomplished team, you will be working at the intersection of program management, engineering, integrated supply chain, finance and quality organizations, improving team effectiveness and coordination, and ensuring that the right people are working together to solve problems and deliver results on time.

In this critical role, you will be fully integrated within a vehicle stage team to help develop and manage integration plans and schedule, manage and report build progress, and work with vehicle stage team to understand technical and schedule risk and manage mitigations.  As the primary point of contact, you must enjoy solving communication and organizational problems, earning trust and improving the overall performance of all teams involved. We are seeking a self-motivated and highly organized individual who can work with minimal direction and coordinate teams in the successful execution of program management activities.  Assignments can range from supporting New Glenn integration activities to leading risk mitigation projects to using data analytics to gain program insight on performance. 

Responsibilities:

Develop plans for integration projects; lead cross-functional teams, manage and report progressIdentify risks and develop mitigation plansBuild metrics and data reports to provide program insights to performanceFacilitate change boards to assess programmatic impact of change requestsDrive process improvements to continuously improve program operationCoordinate with procurement, internal and external manufacturing, to ensure that hardware priorities are well understood and are actively managed to support the need datesIdentify schedule-critical hardware, equipment, people, and facilities; resolve constraintsDefine program operations and production strategies to meet program performance and production objectivesDrive operations and production strategies through implementation through assignment of projects and tasks, funding and budget tracking, and integration with key stakeholdersAct as the functional lead in all aspects of strategic technical projects and tasksEffectively collaborate with the supporting functions to maintain project schedulesPerform and lead others in the execution and facilitation of specific project plans, managing risks, tracking, reporting on status, and resolving blocking issuesWork independently toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and determine the technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutionsApply program management principles in the development of executable plans and implementation of creative solutions to complex problem 

Minimum Qualifications:

Passion for Blue Origin’s mission: Millions of people living and working in space!B.S./B.A. degree or equivalent experience6+ years of experience in project management with experience in aerospace or technical systems field.Possess high attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skillsDemonstrated ability building trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver resultsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in development of launch vehicles or other complex systemsExperience leading a small technical teamExperience with Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Project (MS Project)Experience leading change management activitiesExperience with data analyticsExperience with technical risk managementWorking familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and TableauProject Management credentials preferred, but not requiredExperience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM.Strong business management acumen and experience interfacing with large, geographically dispersed programs
