Description Project Manager Must live in Los Angeles California On-site Job Summary This position involves overseeing the upgrade of an existing air-blown fiber cable plant throughout a large campus. The Project Manager will manage the RFP process, vendor selection, and deliverables from the selected cabling contractor, ensuring the project stays on track in terms of timeline, budget, and the quality of the fiber installation. The project will involve a campus-wide upgrade from multi-mode fiber to single-mode fiber, enabling network speeds of 10GB+ to the desktop. This role will collaborate closely with the campus connectivity team, network engineers, and other relevant departments. Major Job Responsibilities Perform full project management duties, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Direct complex projects requiring integration across multiple teams and disciplines with minimal supervision. Track, coordinate, plan, and report on technical work across various teams and organizations. Collaborate with the campus connectivity department to ensure the accuracy of the fiber installation. Work closely with network engineers, telecommunications engineers, and system administrators to ensure the success of the project. Implement communication and management processes to ensure smooth project execution. Maintain and update project documentation, timelines, budget estimates, and status reports. Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to the established budget. Develop and implement change management strategies and communicate adjustments effectively to all stakeholders. Identify, manage, and mitigate potential project risks. Address unexpected issues or challenges that arise during the project. Prepare post-project reports, including lessons learned and recommendations for future projects. Ensure all documentation is received for knowledge transfer and understanding between the vendor and internal staff. Coordinate with the network operations team for proper testing and operational readiness. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in software analysis, development, and implementation. 2-5 years of IT project management experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Project Management detail oriented (PMP) certification preferred. Experience managing fiber or copper cable plant projects is a plus. BICSI RCDD Certification is a plus. BICSI Registered Telecommunications Project Manager Certification is a plus.
