Altorfer Power Systems is looking to fill the position of Commissioning (Cx) Project Manager. The primary function of this role is to coordinate all associated personnel, tasks, and materials to ensure the successful delivery, commissioning, and turnover of data center generator sets. This position will require significant travel to provide onsite support for key project activities and milestones. Cx Project Managers are required to manage multiple projects simultaneously during various stages of completion. Effective time management, strong organizational skills, and technical aptitude are essential for success. Close interaction with Altorfer’s data center customers, project contractors, commissioning authorities, various Altorfer departments, vendors, and the Caterpillar factory is required.
Basic Duties Coordinate and manage data center commissioning projects from delivery to completion, requiring frequent travel to project sites.Develop project schedules, budgets, and issue resolution strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.Develop and manage partnerships with local Caterpillar dealers to leverage their technicians and commissioning support teams.Review project documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and compatibility with equipment commissioning and operational requirements.Continually monitor project progress and identify potential risks or issues; develop and implement mitigation strategies.Attend all relevant commissioning meetings while on site, or remotely if not on site. Develop close working relationships with project contractors, commissioning authorities, and customers to ensure effective collaboration and to mitigate inefficiencies and scope creep.Evaluate project outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement; implement lessons learned for future projects.Coordinate with Altorfer, Caterpillar, genset packagers, and other vendors to ensure all quality issues are resolved and properly claimed to warranty if applicable.Assist with overall quality control of products in final shipment from genset packagers and provide input for improvement to the unit build process. Qualifications B.S. in Project Management, Engineering, or a similar area of study (preferred) or equivalent work experience.A minimum of 2 years of experience in the engine and power generation industry or in closely a related technology field.1 year of direct project/program management experience is required.Knowledge of electric generator sets, and associated systems is required.A willingness to travel and work in often difficult site/outdoor working conditions is required.A focus on and commitment to safety in all aspects of this job role is required.Must have a clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle will be performed on final candidate). Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsThis position requires significant travel, remote work from onsite project locations, work in outdoor environments during various weather conditions, and work in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means, and sit in a vehicle while traveling and working on project sites. May on a continuous basis walk, bend, and lift up to 50lbs. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- hard hat, safety glasses or side shields, safety toed shoes, etc.) when needed. The noise level while on project sites can be significant and may require hearing protection to be worn. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
