Project Management Director
Overview AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP’s millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies. The Project Management Director plays a critical role in facilitating the established New Product Development (NPD) process, serving as the primary liaison between ASI and AARP. This position oversees the development, approval, and execution of NPD documents, ensuring they align with AARP's requirements and strategic priorities. Acting as the key point of coordination, the Director manages stakeholder relationships across ASI and AARP, ensuring smooth communication and the successful advancement of new initiatives. Additionally, this role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of official documentation, refining processes, and guiding teams to ensure all materials meet AARP’s standards for approval. Given the complexity of the role and the depth of institutional knowledge required, strong relationship management and an in-depth understanding of internal and external stakeholder dynamics are essential for success. Responsibilities Plans, organizes, and implements assigned projects. Determines resources needed, tracks budgets, determines scope and execution, tracks progress towards milestones, establishes timelines, and evaluates progress. Ensures adherence to internal and external quality standards. Organizes project teams and leads internal and external team members and stakeholders to deliver on project goals. Establishes project communication plans and ensures internal/external stakeholders are informed regarding project processes and impact. Qualifications Strong Writing and Editing Skills: Ability to draft, review, and refine complex documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with organizational standards. Experience overseeing written materials and providing editorial guidance. Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage and track multiple projects (10+), ensuring progress, identifying priorities, and adjusting workflows as needed. Stakeholder Collaboration: Ability to work with diverse internal teams, including business units, and legal teams to ensure alignment and efficient decision-making. Strategic Prioritization: Ability to assess shifting priorities, balance competing demands, and determine when to accelerate or delay initiatives based on organizational needs and AARP’s bandwidth. Institutional Knowledge & Process Oversight: Understanding of historical practices and established processes related to unique business models, ensuring consistency and compliance. Strong Communication Skills: Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate effectively across various teams and levels of leadership. Bachelor’s Degree & Experience: BA/BS degree required, with at least 7 years of relevant experience in project management, stakeholder coordination, or a similar role.
