Key Responsibilities:

The HCM Payroll Transformation Lead role combines technical payroll expertise with a strategic focus on process improvement, digital transformation and change management. The ideal candidate will have extensive large-company payroll experience in all functional areas and be proactive in finding opportunities to optimize ongoing processes, implement new HCM system, and enhance the overall efficiency and accuracy of payroll. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a dynamic project and environment within an evolving industry and set the payroll direction for the future.

This position, in part, will support the HCM journey from PeopleSoft to a new HCM provider for all aspects of the corporate payroll department. The role will be instrumental in evaluating and redefining the modernized payroll operation driving payroll, accounting, and tax related activities. The Lead will also provide executive reporting on project landmarks/important metrics with HR and Technology partners to early-detect risks/anomalies.

In addition, this role is responsible for identifying and supporting continuous improvement opportunities and business process redesign as part of the CFO’s overall strategy of finance transformation. The objective of this strategy includes improve efficiencies, elevate the division’s ability to provide insight to our business partners and gain clarity into trends in payroll data. This role will include:

Partnering with our System Implementor and new HCM provider in transitioning to the cloud platform

Standardize disparate processes and drive efficiency and accuracy through identification of automation opportunities and assist in the development of data analytics

Serve as a change agent and help cultivate an environment that accepts transformation, innovation and continuous improvement through the entire corporate payroll process

This role requires the individual to partner with internal business areas to drive process efficiency end-to-end and early awareness of project timelines and budget.

Lead HCM payroll project and transitionBe responsible for day-to-day payroll project tasks in partnership with System Implementor, including support of the monthly steering committee and executive reporting Ensure current and any future transformation initiatives align with payroll and accounting standards (e.g., APA & GAAP) and regulatory requirements where applicable (e.g., IRS, DOT, etc.)Ensure appropriate controls are embedded in new business processesWork with system integrator to settle standard methodologies for payroll processesPartner with external and internal audit to facilitate audit procedures in support of SOX compliance Drive process optimization and automationAssess current payroll and accounting processes to identify areas for process improvements through simplification, standardization, end-to-end optimization (by working cross-functionally) and enhanced HCM automationImplement standard processes and automation tools to streamline payroll and accounting processes and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of reporting, reconciliation, and month-end close activitiesContinuously identify and evaluate opportunities for process improvement, focusing on cost savings and operational efficiencySupport financial transformation initiativesCollaborate with leadership to help define payroll and accounting transformation initiativesPartner with collaborators (e.g., HR, IT, Finance, others) to ensure an integration of accounting initiatives with the broader organizational goalsTrack efforts against transformation initiative landmarks, maintain timelines and report on progress to senior managementServe as a change agent and help cultivate an environment that accepts transformation, innovation and continuous improvementQualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field4+ years of large-company payroll experienceStrong understanding of payroll processing, accounting processes and key internal controlsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiencyExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present sophisticated information to both finance and non-finance collaboratorsA highly motivated individual with strong understanding of how people, processes, and technology work together to produce a strong and sustainable capabilityAbility to work with both technical and business user teams to identify and tackle issuesMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):Master of Business Administration or AccountingWorkday Payroll certification7-10 of large-company payroll experienceUnderstanding of data and experience with data analytic toolsWorkday
The base pay range for this role is $99,750.00 to $135,960.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
