We’re happy to discuss flexible working hours, patterns, and locations to suit you and the business. **What You'll Be Doing** **Job Scope:** Generally responsible for supervision and technical direction over a team of project controls professionals. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in engineering and management. This work will be performed under minimal supervision. **Primary responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:** + Leading, training and mentoring project controls professionals for skills development. + Reviewing and approving all project controls deliverables. + Performing advanced cost control work serving as a technical specialist for complex engineering assignments. + Distributing Office Earnings Reports, updating with current information, redistributing for approval and participating in the review of the final reports. + Assisting Accounting and Management in developing and tracking office budgets. + Validating professional services and construction estimates at the onset of projects and tracking changes as projects progress. + Producing professional service estimates in accordance with the department standards for project deliverables, project studies and estimates, change notices and for the development of new work through proposal efforts. Maintaining and reviewing estimating software regularly by keeping current and accurate information for the estimate basis. + Developing cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand. + Ensuring that any requirements for permitting have been established and communicated to the project team. + Working knowledge of scope and deliverables. Initiating timely change notices when deviation is made from the scope, affecting schedule, deliverables or cost of the work. + Planning and organizing the work of the project controls team. Communicating the plan to the team, project leadership and the client. + Maintaining control of projects by tracking and maintaining discipline performance budget progress, schedule commitments, and quality standards. Understanding and utilizing project tools which are in place for project control. + Delegating work to the project controls team in proportion to their technical skills and experience, then following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality. + Knowledge of the skills and experience required to perform engineering and design functions. + Participating in the planning of training programs, continuous education opportunities and professional development of staff. + Establishing a safe work environment and communicating the Company commitment to safety to teammates and clients. + Familiarity with and utilization of office standards. + Developing and maintaining relationships with current and new clients. + Promoting continuing relationships with the company clients. + Setting the guidelines for the planning of training programs, continuous education opportunities and professional development of teammates. + Embracing and utilizing technology to set the example for the team. **Ideal Background** **Education:** High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field is highly preferred. **Registration:** Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACEI) or Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) certification is highly preferred. **Experience:** This position requires 10 or more years of relevant industrial experience in project controls, cost controls, cost estimation, planning, scheduling and project management. + Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices. + Extreme attention to detail. + Proven ability to manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities in multiple offices of the company. A proven ability to manage multi-office project execution. + Sound, ethical business judgment. + Ability to recognize and promote talent. + Ability to recognize and rectify teammate issues. + Ability to create a high performance team in attitude and accomplishment. + Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines. + Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations. + Understanding of existing and potential customer deliverable expectations and preferences. + Record of achieving objectives; successful project completion, within budget and time frame. + Ability to delegate authority appropriately. + Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability. + Ability to set priorities. + Demonstrated leadership ability with team orientation. + Assessment of personnel in interviews and through performance. + Coaching and mentoring skills and experience. + Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written. + Excellent presentation skills. + Excellent leadership and organizational skills. + Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Primavera and other technology tools. + Embraces technology and leads technological changes. + Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of efforts. + Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all project controls deliverables. + Ability to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a man-hour budget for a small project or an area for a larger project. + Ability to determine construction material quantities. + Experienced in estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of project controls work.
