JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for leading and contributing to R&D projects, at various stages, for consumer and commercial solutions. The successful candidate demonstrates technical understanding and working knowledge of consumer and commercial product design, testing, regulatory, quality, and manufacturing. They will be responsible for assessing, recommending, and implementing improvements to the company’s products.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies to meet or exceed customer (external/internal) established requirements. Develop and follow established new product development processes and create support documentation for these activities. Provide sustaining engineering by finding alternate components, root cause analysis or production support. Design and conduct experiments; analyze operation and test data; interpret and validate results for accuracy and precision. Perform competitive product analysis. Write and deliver quality supporting documentation for specifications, procedures, manuals, and technical reports. Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of industry and trade trends, and ensure that design lessons learned through normal product development activities are documented for future use. Conduct technical design reviews for internal and external stakeholders to produce the highest level of quality and assure that all project objectives are met. Create and monitor product acceptance specifications to achieve product reliability standards. Contribute to the support and troubleshooting of the company’s connected/IoT solutions (WiFi/BLE).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred. 0-5 years of experience. Experience with a 3D CAD program. Experience with SolidWorks is a plus. Experience with plastics is a plus. Experience with product development is a plus. Experience with project management is a plus. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional internal team and manage external resources. Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision to technical and non-technical audiences. Strong attention to detail. Ability to apply broad knowledge of engineering concepts. Willingness to investigate and implement new technologies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
