With our historic growth, now is an exciting time to join our team of employee-owners.HNTB is seeking a Project Engineer and Design Services During Construction (DSDC) Lead for the Gold Star Memorial Bridge Northbound Rehabilitation and Deck Replacement project located in Groton and New London, CT. This project is entering the construction phase and stands to be one of the largest, most complex, and innovative bridge rehabilitation projects in the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s history. HNTB will continue to serve as the project’s designer and engineer of record through the construction duration. The project is situated along one of the most heavily traveled highway corridors in Connecticut and is estimated to cost in excess of $500M. As a Project Engineer at HNTB and DSDC Lead on the project, your role will be critical in ensuring successful delivery. You will be supported by a team of experienced technical discipline leads, both locally and from across the country, and you will serve as HNTB's liaison with the construction team. This dynamic opportunity requires excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with internal and external partners, including cross-discipline and functional teams, to address and resolve design-related issues or concerns. Your responsibilities will encompass proactively managing the schedule, technical requirements, and client communications to support the project's objectives, leveraging technical knowledge and experience to address design related issues or concerns, and working closely with HNTB’s project manager in creative problem solving. This position may include mentoring, training, and review of work by junior engineering staff and providing constructive feedback.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects.Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.Performs other duties as assigned.What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, orMaster’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, orPhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experienceWhat You'll Bring:
Leading the Design Services During Construction (DSDC) phase of the project with the support of HNTB’s experienced designers.Providing technical guidance to team and task leads as well as performing portions of the technical work.Managing the delivery of design documents and reviewing external designs for conformance with contract requirements.Identifying and escalating risk and change management issues with oversight from more experienced staff.Interfacing with your client-level and contractor peers.Understanding the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.What We Prefer:
Master’s degree in Engineering8 years relevant experience: construction phase work and/or major bridge rehabilitation projectsProfessional Engineer (PE) certificationProject Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)Additional Information

The approximate pay range for Rocky Hill, CT is $103,015.28 - $161,126.45. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state..
