This position will serve as a Project Engineer in Asheville and assist Division staff by providing engineering support needed to effectively manage and coordinate project development efforts of the Department, engineering firms and support staff. This position will track all aspects of each assigned project from conception to completion including project feasibility, planning, public involvement, project design, right-of-way acquisition, environmental issues, budget and project letting to ensure timely delivery and development of projects and programs. This position will write and coordinate all third-party agreements with municipalities and developers. This position will communicate verbally and in writing with public officials, consultants, environmental agencies, public and Department staff. This position provides engineering and design guidance to Department staff and private engineering firms serving as a liaison between the firms and the Division. This position will provide status reports on projects and funding sources to the Division Project Development Engineer and the Division Engineer on a regular basis.
