We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the De Beers Diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance. We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations. We are the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally.  

The Company has an excellent record in successful project delivery which with over 140 projects delivered in the last 22 years focused on the establishment and development of a fleet of sampling and mining ships and all associated equipment. On the base of this successful track record, we have a strategic intention to expand our project offering to De Beers land-based operations.

Job Description

The incumbent will be required to plan, engineer and execute projects within time, cost, resource and budget constraints, through all project phases in line with De Beers project procedures.

 Your role will include:

Develop project financial budgets.Manage and control the allocation of funds to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.Provide input to and basis of project capital and operating cost estimates.Manage the execution of design (systems, equipment and products) including documentation, data packs, re Risk evaluation and alleviation within design of systems, equipment and products( technical and  SHE)views and execution.Coordinate the integration of all project technical documents and reports in line with Group requirementsProvide technical consulting services to the operations and disciplines in the area of specializationDefine (draft) and coordinate scopes of work for system and equipment deliveryDirect or prepare and evaluate the technical aspects of procurementCollaborate with the relevant stakeholders regarding technical issuesDevelop and manage implementation of quality plansManage construction and commissioning activities through to handoverCo-operate with colleagues to facilitate the achievement of company objectivesBuild relationships with project stakeholders through continual interaction and service excellence

QualificationsRecognised Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical)

Additional requirements:

5 years post qualification experience with at least 2 years in project engineering and execution.Experience in marine and land based related projects, especially ship conversion, process plant and subsea mining will be an added advantage but not a prerequisite.Preparedness to relocate to other centres as and when necessary
