About the Role

We have an opportunity for a Project Engineer in our Energy & Utilities business, supporting multiple Remote electrical project in Sydney, NSW & ACT.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will ensure consistency of work, deliver on project outcomes (time, cost, quality, safety), testing and commissioning, identify opportunities for improvements and align with both the client and Downers ways of working.

Planning and leading Brownfield and Greenfield Substation project testing and commissioning activities. Planning and executing outage activities Tracking and reporting progress according to the project construction or commissioning schedule Creating Quality packs including ITP’s, ITC’s and testing methodology Defect & RFI management Drawing management and WAE processes Managing design contractors Managing Construction and commissioning QA activities Managing subcontractors Supervision and mentoring of junior team members Prepare work records and reports as required, including input into databases and work hours/daily work records Comply with flexible work practices to meet system needs-including multi-skilling

Desirable additional skills:

Outdoor / Indoor Distribution & Transmission Substation construction  Protection and control relay testing Switchgear, CT & VT testing IEC61850 system testing Proficiency in Omicron Primary Test Manager

About You

Degree in Electrical Engineering Remote travel experience Relevant tickets or licenses and registrations Demonstrated experience in onsite experience working in a similar role Knowledge of HV Installation and Switch Gear Plan and complete pre-commissioning and commissioning of power system primary plant and secondary systems Experience in analysing and solving technical information, including fault finding of Power Industry Network and Substation protection and control schemes in relation to construction, maintenance and commissioning of secondary systems Capable of identifying the critical resources necessary and act with decisiveness to ensure works are performed safely and meet required time and cost objectives Ability to compare information from different sources to draw conclusions, and select an appropriate course of action Australian transmission/distribution network experience Advanced use of MS Office tools.
