Project Engineer

As Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the support of a variety of site process equipment and facility infrastructure systems. This position will be responsible for project management, budgeting, scheduling, change control, commissioning and qualification of site CAPEX projects, energy conservation projects and plant shutdown modifications. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following: Lead the design, installation, or modification of the facility infrastructure, support equipment, or primary process equipment and associated control systems which are aligned with GSK Biological global standards. Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to correct problems with equipment and associated control systems and proactively analyze equipment design, repair and maintenance to address weaknesses and identify opportunities for improvement Knowledgeable with cGMP and EHS requirements, engineering guidelines, area classifications, and environmental conditions required for Aseptic Manufacturing Facilities and all assigned projects. Manage all aspects of site CAPEX jobs: Initiation, scope definition, change controls, vendor bids, budget procurement, cost control, delivery, installation, commissioning, and qualification. Role will include generation and execution of commission and qualification protocols. Participate in cross-functional teams, who address specific problems, facilitate discussion and research, enabling procedures to become more efficient, and to build and enhance interdepartmental relationships. Interface with users, peers, and management to ensure appropriate input and integration of local and corporate standards. Author, review, revise, or approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required and provide technical expertise during regulatory audits. Provide technical support for facilities infrastructure including but not limited to: HVAC, Clean Steam, Compressed Air (GMP and non-GMP), Nitrogen, potable and clean water systems Provide technical oversight and management for facility modifications during plant shutdown. Work with maintenance department so that all work to be performed during maintenance shutdowns is managed, scheduled, budgeted, documented, and implemented as required. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor’s degree in engineering field. 3 years' Experience with Project Management in an engineering environment Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Prior engineering experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical and an in depth knowledge typically gained from several years industry experience leading to a technical understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and engineering practices. Prior experience leading the design, equipment specifications, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning and qualification of systems required. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices, GLP’s and NIH guidelines for large scale recombinant biological processing. Demonstrated ability to generate options to resolve problems, prioritize solutions, determine appropriate course of action, gain consensus on that recommendation, and implement decisions. Must have demonstrated self-direct work habits along with verbal and written communication skills. Must be a committed team player prepared to work in and embrace a team based culture. Able to maintain attention to detail while executing multiple tasks. Able to perform job duties with minimal supervision. Must operate cross-functionally and be able to lead in a matrix organization. Sense of urgency, flexibility and accountability. Stay current on developments in the field and GSK-Bio Standards.
