Reports to Job Title: VP: Engineering

 

Summary of Position: 

The project engineer designs and drafts food processing and packaging equipment, plant layouts, and parts; this position establishes budgets and timelines for capital projects and manages systems installations.

 

Functions Performed: 

Designs, redesigns, or modifies required areas and implements changes to resolve problems and improve equipment/systems performance and reliability.Prepares completed layouts for final equipment/system design from simple sketches and/or vendor supplied drawings for all company locations.Manages new equipment purchases by working closely with vendors to ensure equipment meets manufacturing requirements. Performs equipment Factory Acceptance Tests or other activities related to machine purchases.Works with other engineers, managers, and facility staff on design needs.Manages internal projects by supporting Maintenance and Fabrication Shop employees involved in new projects and retrofits/upgrades.Evaluates production equipment and related systems for optimization.Monitors project costs and prepares progress summaries for executive group.

 

Education, Experience, and Knowledge:  

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred. Five or more years' experience in engineering and project management.Knowledge in the food/nut industry highly preferred.  

 

Certificates, Licenses. and Registrations:  

AutoCAD certification

 

Skills and Competencies:

Working knowledge of AutoCAD.Working knowledge of Solidworks.Microsoft Office Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook.Ability to be on feet four hours-a-day and walk large facilities.Manual dexterity Ability to lift 30 pounds.
