Country South Africa Workplace location CAPE TOWN-TYGER VALLEY CHAMBERS 2(ZAF) Employer company TotalEnergies Renewables Domain Industrial Projects Type of contract Regular position Experience Minimum 10 years Context & Environment During development phase, Project Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall Technical Workstream of its portfolio of solar, BESS (battery) and HV works, with the aim to reach Final Investment Decision (FID) as per the development plan. With his/her project team, he/she is responsible to perform all the relevant feasibility assessments, design, schedule and price optimizations pre-construction with a specific focus on:Assessing appropriately the Business/Project needsManaging site surveys and technical studies performed by Third Parties (geotechnical, hydrological, topographical…)Assessing performancePerforming preliminary designs accordingly and optimizing them (Generation/storage Plant and interconnection), in compliance with local regulations, in order to achieve the optimum in terms of LCOEAssessing CAPEX and OPEX, performing LCOE analysis and optimizationsDefining the project scheduleManaging Technical Due Diligences, with internal and/or external support, when needs beIn direct contact with the Business Development leader in charge, he/she contributes also to business and economics aspects, with a focus on:Managing RFP, reviewing, clarifying and challenging EPC/BOS Contractors offersManaging RFP, reviewing, clarifying and challenging main equipment vendors’ offersConfirming technical inputs to be included in business models in order to justify investment decision and/or to convince partnersPreparing and negotiating the procurement/supply contracts with contractors and equipment suppliersPreparing project’s execution strategy and set-upReporting to TotalEnergies and JVs relevant committees.He/she contributes then to the investment decision, which will be based TotalEnergies governance and thus may require attendance to the relevant committees.During project execution, he/she is responsible and accountable for the overall coordination of construction of the project, with the main aim of completing the work on time, within budget, as per project requirements, and without any major HSE incidents. He/she will pay specific attention to:
Overall management of the EPC contractors.  Interact with the Contracts Manager to ensure any potential contractual issues are pro-actively addressed.Guide the Employers’ Construction manager in his/her work on sitePlacing a constant and strong emphasis on HSEBeing fully informed about the site work by, amongst others, regular site visitsIdentify potential risks and opportunities throughout the execution periodActing as a key point of contact with stakeholders, including the ESKOM, the local communitiesLiaise with the ED Manager to ensure that the overall ED targets are achievedEnsure that the O&M Contractor is ready and in place to take over at CODReporting to TotalEnergies and JVs relevant committees and provide technical support to the execution teams, in order to deliver the projects on time, on budget and as per project requirements, from NTP through COD until EPC Contract Final AcceptanceDuring asset operation, he/she provides technical support to the Asset Management / O&M teams with a focus on technical scope.
He/she directly contributes also in building and improving solar PV, BESS and HV works, with a focus on:Developing innovative solutions (products, processes, projects schemes…)Ensuring standardization of processes/procedures/templates related to his/her scopeLessons Learned and keep up-to-date dedicated registers related to his/her scopeDeveloping and managing KPIs and continuous improvement activities related to his/her scopeTraining and coaching more junior staff

Education

- Graduate Degree in Engineering

Experience, knowledge & skills

- Minimum 10 years of experience within the solar PV and HV works and/or battery storage industry, working for an EPC Contractor, Technical Advisor, Owner Engineer, or well-known IPP/Project Developer

- Robust technical background within the renewable industry, in terms of electrical or mechanical or civil engineering

- Business background in Renewables

- Specific experiences in both pre-construction and execution stages

- Experience working in a multi-cultural / multi-site environment, and in a wide transverse / cross-functional mode

- Fluent in English (French as a plus)

- South African citizen

- Preference will be given to previous disadvantaged individuals
