Role description: 

To support our Victorian Civil Infrastructure Business, we are seeking a talented Project Director to join our team to support a variety of infrastructure projects that are local, national and international.

The ideal candidate will have experience of leading civil and or structural, water or energy projects for government and contractor clients and be experienced in negotiating a variety of contract forms, ranging from Design Only to Design and & Construct (D&C) and Alliances. 

As a Project Leader you will possess a balance between a strong commercial acumen, and the need to establish long-term relationship with clients by ensuring we deliver to their needs and expectations.

Role accountabilities:

The successful candidate will:

Provide sound and effective leadership to project teams, provide direction and advice, lead by example to achieve company goals and champion a quality culture; Play a lead role in the development of the Arcadis Project Management offering in Australia, through leading high-quality service delivery, business development and brand enhancement;  Deliver sound and effective leadership and project management services, leading by example to achieve company goals and championing a quality culture;  Lead the development of new business pursuits, bids and project execution plans whilst obtaining the buy-in of all stakeholders. Critically review tender returns, contract negotiations, award of contracts and client reporting; Deliver commissions within the framework of risk, sustainability and environmental considerations, while maintaining focus on time, cost and quality. Ensure risks are proactively identified, assessed and managed to avoid adverse impacts on projects. Provide governance to drive project performance, service delivery and commercial outcomes. Ensure effective financial and project management controls are established to enable performance monitoring, management and forecasting as appropriate;  Apply project management principles to devise and deliver new approaches to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of project management controls;  Provide project teams with leadership and technical guidance;  Have exceptional written and oral communication skills including the ability to lead client presentations, interactive workshops and in-house training; Manage client relationships and ensure that client delivery is above expectation. Work to ensure maximum client satisfaction, champion client care and proactively work with clients to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes; Represent Arcadis on Design Joint Venture Steering Committees, Alliance Management or Leadership Teams and collaborative delivery model Leadership Teams; and  Mentor, grow and actively develop project teams to ensure that team members reach their full potential. Qualifications & Experience:

You are a seasoned project management professional thriving in a high pressured, fast paced environment with strong industry ties and have demonstrated credibility in a consulting environment. 

Your career to date will include:  

Extensive experience of managing projects in a consultancy environment for both government and contractor clients, with a broad exposure to different forms of contract.  A sound commercial background, including experience of contractual conditions and procedures and a demonstratable ability to lead the commercial aspects of projects. Hold a recognised degree or equivalent qualification relating to a technical field: Engineering or Project Management, construction management or Architecture. Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, mentor and develop a project team. Highly motivated and driven with a passion for delivering to your client’s needs. Established relationships with existing clients in the civil infrastructure sector in Victoria. In addition, relationships with clients in the water and energy sectors are highly desirable. Must be eligible to work in Australia
