Project Controls Scheduler

Job Summary

The Marathon Petroleum Company (MPC) Los Angeles Refining is seeking a Project Controls Scheduler position located Carson, California. The successful candidate will have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment. This individual will develop and manage schedules for planned shutdown projects and provide support to the project controls team supporting the Turnaround and Construction department. This position will drive adherence to MPC Scheduling Standards. The hours of the position are Monday through Thursday 6AM to 4:30PM with availability 7 days per week during planned shutdown events once a year and no after hours calls are required.

Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned plans and add to Primavera Master Schedule

Manage the Primavera file to assure that items are not added or removed after control estimate is complete without proper paperwork

Assure that all coding is correct in the Primavera schedules

Maintain updates to schedule to match work list as job cards are submitted from Leads

Facilitate overall Logic reviews with Leads and individual units to finalize logic

Manage the effort of manpower levelling the entire file and producing histograms to develop hiring plans

Verify progress updates with Construction Leads

Interface with Project Cost Controls to pass on man-hours for check estimates / control estimates

Produce and distribute look-aheads, daily schedules, productivity reports, daily progress/curves/bar charts for assigned turnarounds and any other requested reports from P6 and/or Analytics.

Interface with construction planners to assure that their plans are per standards

Produce data to Leads for close out and performance summary reports for projects as required.

Troubleshoot schedule logic and coding problems for users

Education, Experience and Skills

        

Minimum Qualifications

Must have Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Business, Accounting or Finance. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)

Must be proficient with Primavera - P6 software.

Must have at least 1 year of scheduling/planning experience in a refinery, petro-chemical or other related heavy industry.

Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.

Must possess strong communication skills and a high level of competency with cost control and scheduling.

Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.

Travel Requirement is less than 5%.
