Project Controls Manager - Primoris Energy Services

Job Description

The Project Controls Manager will be responsible for managing the day to day processes, procedures, systems, tools, reporting, and training related to the initiation, planning, control, resource management, and close-out of project management process areas. This role will serve as a liaison between IT and department staff with respect to required updates and/or changes in software. In addition, this role will have overall responsibility for maintaining and updating databases used in project and estimating systems.

Functional Requirements

Manages the critical aspects of project controls for a broad scope of field projects, including cost budgeting, forecasting, planning/scheduling, and estimating. Develops, manages and maintains project management systems and tools to support the business processes – including all ERP, Project Management and Scheduling systems. Prepares and/or manages the assembly of summary-level project performance reporting for operations, financial, and executive management – including trending and exception reporting. Conducts training to ensure that all those involved in the business processes have a working understanding of the project management procedures and supporting tools and can effectively apply both to the successful execution of projects. Supports projects and bids/proposals on an as-needed basis. Provide guidance, mentorship and functional support to project controls leads and direct reports. Manages and implements the project controls technical systems. Researches functional needs of project controls staff and supports with designing system functions to address identified needs. Various other duties as requested by management

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent relevant work experience 8 – 10 years of progressive experience in project controls within a large global company 5 or more years of management experience, working within the engineering and construction services industry

Skills

T&M a plus, EcoSys preferred not required, MS Office, Power BI, Access, Viewpoint Able to interact with all levels of management. Advanced knowledge of project controls principles. Strong technical and analytical skills. Proficiency in use of MS Office products Strong knowledge of necessary software systems. Advanced knowledge of software system capabilities and functionality. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Recognized for having specialized depth or breadth of expertise within area of focus. Skill in developing policy and procedure documentation. Working knowledge of construction and engineering services is preferred. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable situations with limited standardization. Excellent problem solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to teach others what they know and to transfer subject matter knowledge and understanding to other employees and/or internal customers regarding why work is performed the way it is and how it impacts the broader organization. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Advocate of team concept. Ability to effectively lead work teams, as assigned.
