The role
As a Project Controls Capability Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will lead our central Mission Systems Project Controls function (including individual disciplines for Planning & Scheduling, Risk Management and Cost & Estimating) to ensure best practice approaches, governance, tools, and techniques, in line with Group policies, are embedded as part of our local operating model(s) and project delivery lifecycle.
Day-to-day, reporting to the Head of Project Management & Project Controls, you will have a leading functional role and one that offers the ability to actively shape the future of project controls across our Mission Systems business. In your capacity as our Project Controls Capability Lead you will:
Develop and own our strategy for developing and maintaining a mature project controls capability across our business, ensuring alignment and adherence to our Global Project Management Framework (GPMF). Ensure mature project controls governance, processes and best practices are established across our portfolio, focusing on both active projects and future growth opportunities. Utilise enterprise toolsets to enable the practice of regular management reporting to project, programme, or senior management teams to provide relevant, accurate and reliable information on current and future performance across our portfolio. Instil a strong project controls culture across the breadth of our portfolio, ensuring a forward-looking and proactive mindset is adopted throughout. Be responsible for leading our community of individuals specialised in project controls, including professional development, mentoring and coaching. You will also work with the PM&PC Operations Lead to generate a pipeline of suitably qualified and experienced project controls professionals in line with related delivery demand across the wider portfolio.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2-3 days in the office and the remainder from home.
Essential experience of the Project Controls Capability Lead
Extensive recent and relevant experience in a similar project controls environment / business. Managed delivery of project controls capabilities of varying types and complexity: including varying products, services, across all phases of the lifecycle, and demonstrable experience in multiple sectors or different businesses. Successful track record of Management in a senior leadership role within a complex regulated and/or safety-critical environment, with the ability to manage effective relationships with strategic stakeholders and interfacing functions. Significant experience of leading and motivating large direct and indirect teams to establish improved productivity and positive morale. Expert knowledge in use of project controls toolsets such as MSP, P6, Active Risk Manager, RiskHive, Safran, Primavera Risk Analyser, Acumen Fuse, Power BI and Deltek Cobra / PM Compass.

The successful candidate must be a SOLE UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
