**Job Summary**
The Project Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as an interim CEO for hospitals within a designated region when a hospital is without a CEO or requires additional leadership for specific projects. The Project CEO is responsible for building strong relationships, growing hospital revenue, ensuring regulatory compliance, and achieving quality accreditations. This role oversees multiple department heads, including CFOs and CNOs, and is a key member of the hospital's senior management team. The Project CEO actively participates in operational decisions, supporting the hospital's mission while staying informed of healthcare trends that could impact financial success.
**Essential Functions**
+ Acts as the interim CEO for hospitals in the designated region, leading day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives when a permanent CEO is not in place.
+ Builds and maintains relationships with hospital staff, physicians, community leaders, and regulatory bodies to support operational success and meet hospital objectives.
+ Oversees hospital leadership teams, including CFOs and CNOs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational excellence.
+ Collaborates with hospital leadership to develop and implement strategies for revenue growth, cost management, and meeting budgetary goals.
+ Ensures hospitals meet all necessary regulatory requirements and quality accreditations, including Joint Commission standards and other healthcare regulatory bodies.
+ Participates in operational decision-making processes, providing strategic input to enhance hospital performance and ensure alignment with the organization's mission.
+ Monitors healthcare trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments that could affect the financial performance of the hospital or division, adjusting strategies as needed.
+ Provides leadership during periods of transition or specific projects, ensuring seamless operations and continuity of care for patients.
+ Works closely with CHS senior management, providing regular updates on hospital performance, financials, and project progress.
+ Travels extensively (90-100%) to hospital sites within the assigned region, providing hands-on leadership and support to hospital teams.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required
+ Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration preferred
+ More than 10 years of progressive operational experience in acute-care environment required
+ At least four (4) years of progressive experience in physician relations or recruitment required
+ Recent for-profit acute care CEO experience within a hospital system preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Proven leadership in hospital operations, with experience in revenue growth, regulatory compliance, and accreditation processes.
+ Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, drive cost efficiencies, and achieve revenue targets.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with hospital staff, community leaders, and external stakeholders.
+ Ability to travel extensively (90-100%) to hospital sites and adapt to different healthcare environments and cultures.
+ Experience in strategic decision-making, problem-solving, and leading cross-functional teams.
