Aecon-EAC Highway 8 General Partnership (“AEGP8”), a 50/50 consortium between Aecon and Emil Anderson Construction, has been selected by the Province of British Columbia to deliver the Highway 8 – Category B Project under a progressive alliance contract model. AEGP8 will work as an integrated team with the province during a 10-month development phase to finalize the design, scope and target cost of the project, with construction expected to commence in the second quarter of 2025 and completion expected in late 2026. The scope of work includes replacing two temporary structures with permanent bridges and building approximately 3 kilometres of connecting highway approximately 15 kilometres east of Spences Bridge to improve safety and climate resiliency.

 

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Accountant plays an essential role in supporting project execution. This is a Monday to Friday site-based position located near Spences Bridge, BC. An LOA will be provided.

 

What You’ll Do Here:

Responsible for project finance working with accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll and Business Unit finance to prepare partnership financial reports  Assist in the preparation of cash flows for the project Prepare monthly reconciliations related to Balance Sheet & Income statement   Assist with audits - financial, Internal control & tax  Work with Project Operations Management team to identify and forecast financial exposures Work with project staff / project controls to review all standard costs Participate in the preparation of quarterly forecasts/ annual Business Plans/ Budgets for the project  Project month-end organization, prepare, and enter month end entries such as subcontractor accruals and cost transfers  Assist with the review & issue of project cost reports and with developing Estimated Costs at Completion (ECAC),   Preparing monthly progress invoices to Owner/Consultant for work performed during the month; enter client billings into the applicable system  Ensure payroll, taxation and accounting practices in compliance with statutory requirements Performs other duties and responsibilities as required. What You Bring to the Team:

Position will be working on a construction site, previous experience in the construction industry preferred. Must possess 3+ years of office related experience with knowledge of purchasing, accounts payable, document control, and payroll.  Prior accounting experience, accounting degree, enrolled or pursuing CPA preferred Computer skills in MS Word and MS Excel. Experience with SAP, BPC and Business Objects is valued. Strong organization, document storage, tracking and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills Must be a team player, be able to work independently and prioritize workload. Must have strong work ethic. Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines. Be a champion of inclusion and diversity. 

 

The expected pay range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000.
